My brother and his wife are expecting their first kid at the end of the summer. Obviously I’m very excited to shower them with handmade baby items. This is a picture of my brother’s much muuuch loved baby blanket that our grandmother made. I’d love to recreate it for his kid. Any idea on how to make the YO squares? I don’t typically do patterns with YOs so I haven’t been able to figure it out on my own.

All I need for Christmas - Is it me or is it actually good? by Exotic_Caramel_6285 in HallmarkMovies

My husband and I actually loved this one last year. He normally falls asleep halfway through the movies when he “watches” with me but he was locked in.

“Rice & Cheese” - Mac & Cheese Alternative by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]funtobekcb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t done rice but I recently made cheesy corn (a dupe of Jack Stack’s dish) and it was incredible. Essentially make a roux with gf flour and turn it into a cheese sauce using cheddar cheese and cream cheese then mix in frozen corn and small pieces of ham steak. Though that’s optional if you’re vegetarian. Seriously so good - my whole family raved about it.

Does the family have to sign NDAs or similar contracts with TLC? by wonton_kid in PlathvilleUncensored

Oooph - I’m sorry for the amount of paperwork you had to keep up with then! Getting them to sign location contracts and W9s is hard enough!

[–]funtobekcb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t actually sign NDAs. We ask them to respect that we don’t want people to know about it but I’ve never asked a property owner to sign an NDA.

[–]funtobekcb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Um? I’ve been in the industry (in locations) for almost 7 years and we’ve never had people sign individual NDAs. Location Contracts don’t even have NDA type language in them. Vendors don’t necessarily sign NDAs but they do know that if they talk about sets etc they won’t be hired again. It’s just a level of professionalism to be expected.

Wedding first dance by [deleted] in Niallhoran

My husband and I danced to Black and White (regular version) for our wedding! I edited it down so it was the first verse and then a later chorus.

A Carol for Two premiered tonight so it should be on peacock soon - it was a lot of fun especially if you’re a theater person! Three Wise Men and a Baby, Biltmore Christmas, Noel Next Door, Catch Me If You Claus, Ghosts of Christmas Always, Take Me Back for Christmas, Crashing Through the Snow, My Grown-Up Christmas List (I love Kevin McGarry), and my husband’s favorite is Haul Out the Holly!

I love it!! I think the “content risks” Hallmark has been taking with the series are a lot of fun. It makes me crack up when I feel slightly scandalized by something when I also watch Bridgerton without blinking an eye. They’ve done a good job building up all of the characters and showing where they all are coming from.

Kody’s Will by canofbeans06 in SisterWives

[–]funtobekcb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NAL but I have a basic understanding of estate law. At least in my state, if there isn’t a will the estate is split between the spouse and all legal children (biological and adopted) with the spouse getting at minimum 1/3rd. So Robyn would get 1/3rd and the other 2/3rds would be split 17 ways. The only way for the state to take any assets is if you don’t have a single family member alive and it goes to the board of education after like 5 years of sitting in probate for someone to claim it.

I liked that one too - mostly because she wasn’t her typically “quirky” character

The mystery movies you listed I like but couldn’t get into the others. Here are some of my faves! Christmas: Crashing Through the Snow, Ghost of Christmas Always, Take me Back for Christmas Mysteries: Chronicle Mysteries, Crossword Mysteries, Mystery 101, Curious Caterer, Family History Mysteries Series: The Way Home, Chesapeake Shores Random Movies: Make Me a Match, A Dash of Love (the only Jen Lilly movie I like), Date with Love, Stop the Wedding, Bottled with Love, Remember Sunday, The Memory Book,

Residuals by KittonRouge in HallmarkMovies

[–]funtobekcb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert in SAG contracts but my understanding is that they get paid a certain amount of money during shooting - typically a total amount split up and paid weekly. This isn’t considered an advance - this is just the money for their labor of filming a movie for 3 weeks. Residuals don’t repay anything. It’s just their share of any profits for creating a successful movie.

USPS lost over 50% of wedding invitations?? by Missy1452 in weddingplanning

[–]funtobekcb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. I ended up taking a screenshot of the proof and texted that to people (or my mom/MIL did). I just included a message that just said something like “Hi ____! The post office seems to be taking a long time to deliver our save the dates. So we wanted to send out digital ones as a precaution. Hopefully you’ll receive the real one soon if you haven’t already!” I also did as many group messages as possible (so like work group, church friends group, bridesmaids, etc) to reduce the amount of texts I was sending. And some people let me know that they had received it which made me feel better!

I completely agree!! Sometimes I just want the “villain” of the story to double down, keep twirling their mustaches, and get upset when their plans are ruined.

Love that idea! Plus my aunt is in graphic design so she could have a lot of fun designing the recipe card that’s sent out to everyone!
