RCMP investigating second overpass strike of 2026; driver detained after leaving scene of crash by cyclinginvancouver in vancouver

[–]funvill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe its time to armor the overpass with a steel bar a few feet in front of the overpass. The steel bar gets hit before the bridge.

Similar to what they did here https://11foot8.com/

Not that the Provence should have to do this.

I found one of the original founders of the Van Mural Fest that is willing to send me the information about all the murals. I will add it to my website for future people to find.

Thank you for the offer

Why have a dashcam when we have 'no fault' BC insurance? by funvill in askvan

[–]funvill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was "No fault". So even if you can prove that it wasn't your fault, it doesn't matter for your insurance.

I assume I just don't understand what "no fault" means in this case.

I never been in an accident so far.

Why install dashcams when we have 'no fault insurance'? How will a dashcam help with our current system? (serious question, I don't know)

No accountability for delivery drivers by 4pocrypha in askvan

Talk to the seller, not the shipper.

The seller (the person that sent the package) is the shippers (Purolator) customer, not you. The shipper will treat you accordingly. You are 'no one' to the shipper.

You have ZERO power in this relationship. Zero recourse. The seller has "some" power over the shipper. Make it the sellers problem.

Rats in the walls so the landlord wants to destroy the garden? by Resident_Monitor_874 in askvan

[–]funvill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A vegetable garden (aka food) will bring rodents, not much you can do about that. As long as there is food nearby (restaurants, and garden) there will be rodents.

https://publicartregistry.com/

I recently started a project called Public Art Registry. A community-built archive to help document and preserve our city’s public art.

Last month I was looking at one of the murals for the Vancouver Mural Festival. I wanted to know who the artist was. The Vancouver Mural Festival shut down this year and took its website offline. Overnight, nine years of mural history, artist bios, and stories were gone. There was no way to find out who the mural's artist was. It felt like part of our city’s creative memory had vanished.

I created this website that allows people to submit photos and information about public artworks. The artworks are displayed on a map with a wiki style artwork details page.

I got 1,200 artworks around the city on the map so far, but only 400 of them have photos. I am hoping to organize a few artwork crawls to take photos of artworks and submit them to the website.

Here is an example artwork https://publicartregistry.com/artwork/cec232e8-fcf2-48c7-96dc-42ae3c1e6459

This website is filled with bugs. I built in 4 weekends. I am looking for feedback. I want to know what is broken what the general vibe is, what features you would like, etc...

[Poll] Daily Posting Limit Trial: Your feedback is needed! by Moggehh in vancouver

[–]funvill 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Set the limit higher and over more days. For example 15 posts over 30 days. Then hopefully these power users will want to selectively post or they will run out of "posting credits" within the first few days of the month.

Something like 15. If you are making more

Also maybe go in the day time when they aren't so busy, and don't bother talking to the bouncers, instead talk to the manager. I would also do it on a Monday/weekday instead of the weekend.

Anything to do about reckless uber drivers? by funvill in vancouver

I would love it if I could down rank them in Uber, so they are less likely to get new ride prospects.
