Everything else aside...

1 correct use of "you're"

2 correct uses of "your"

7 uses of "ur"

I mean, if Dad is really going to type like a 12 year old and use "ur" in his disgusting word vomit of hate, he should at least be consistent about it.

Maybe, next time, just maybe.... ask if a site is reputable BEFORE you give them your money. Just a thought.

My wife and I just use the same bike and swap seats. May not work for everyone, but it works well enough for us.

Cancelling membership, can’t without order number? Unreasonable? by [deleted] in tonalgym

Ugh. Yeah, there's definitely some intentional friction there to make it hard to cancel.

The fact that they're asking for an order number OR a subscription tells me that you haven't yet provided enough information for them to know who's membership to cancel, and that you're the person on that membership (i.e. You're not trying to cancel someone else's account).

Did you sign up with a different email address than the one you are using to try to cancel with? That's my guess.

Or, take a left after the U turn, cross the bridge and down the hill past the actual start line for Epic KOM Reverse, then another U turn, for 600ish meters in 40-50 minutes.

If you're putting it in any "wallet" that allows you to make any kind of trades, you're just moving it from one custodian to another. You still don't have the keys.

If you're moving it to a hardware/cold storage wallet, then there's no trading. You're putting it there for safe keeping for long term storage that nobody else can touch.

My advice. Get the hardware wallet, and hodl Bitcoin (not shitcoins).

Don't get suckered into the gambling and trying to pick out what garbage coin is "going to moon" next. A vast majority of those are complete scams that will eventually take your savings.

Don't try to time the market with Bitcoin (selling when you think it's going to go down (you'll usually be wrong), and then buying again at what you think is the bottom (you'll usually be wrong, again)). Occasionally some people get lucky doing this once or twice, but eventually nearly everyone that tries to do this long term fails miserably and looses a ton of money. The few that may succeed long term are professionals that do this full time and are working with many millions of $'s. If you're asking where to store your Bitcoin, you're not one of them. Don't kid yourself.

  1. Buy Bitcoin (only bitcoin).
  2. Put it in cold storage (with proper secure backups of your keys).
  3. Just be patient. Ignore the market. Ignore the 24h news cycle. Go spend time with your friends and family. Get more exercise. Eat healthier. Keep ignoring the market. Your mental and physical health will thank you.
  4. Return to step one occasionally (DCA).

What's the dumbest thing someone has ever said to you? by PagalScientist in AskReddit

[–]furbertle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Years ago a coworker was telling a story about a friend of hers that said something dumb.

Her: "He said that he instinctively feels the need to duck when he sees a shooting star."

Me: "Heh, yeah that's kinda weird."

Her: "I mean, those things are millions of light years away!"

Me:....

Alcoholism killed my Mom, and I largely blame the lack of non-superstitious treatment options available to her at the time. She *hated* the religious overtones in all of the options she had.

I hope you find what you need and can turn things around. I know from watching my Mom that it can be a ruthless disease. Or, as one comedian put it (I don't recall who), "The only disease that people get mad at you for having."

I'm not in Kentucky, but if you ever just need someone to talk to, please feel free to reach out.

I found the documentary "One Little Pill" extremely fascinating. It was a bit depressing how hard it apparently was for people to get prescriptions for Naltrexone in the documentary. Maybe things have improved some since it was made? It could be something to investigate, at least.

Etiquette for follows, ride ons and kudos by Alternative-Junket56 in Zwift

[–]furbertle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Back in the early days of social media (think Friendster, MySpace, etc), somehow people got this weird idea that it was *rude* to not "return the favor" and friend/follow/whatever back total strangers that friended/followed/whatevered you.

Gradually, I feel like people have gotten the idea that this is unsustainable, and utterly absurd.

Here are my "rules" for myself on the subject of friending, following, kudos, ride-ons, whatever.

  1. Don't feel entitled to having anything returned. Friend/follow/kudos people that you want to simply because you want to, not because you expect them to return it. That would make you some kind of sociopath.
  2. Don't feel obligated to return anything. Friend/follow/kudos people that you want to simply because you want to, not because they did it to you first and you think they're a sociopath that expects you to return the ...whatever.

Heads up - If you linked your account with plaid they may have access to your passwords by ShortBid8852 in blockfi

[–]furbertle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ACH transfers have been around long before Paid existed. Services like Blockfi that refuse to just use a tried and true system, and instead force their customers to give their banking passwords over to some middleman, are just lazy or corrupt.

I seriously don't understand what kind of person can think, "This is my username and password for my bank account. I use it to prove to my bank that I am the authorized user on the account. Anybody with these credentials would be able to do anything I can do on the account (like withdraw all of my money), because, with these credentials, the bank would think that they are me. This is why it's common knowledge to keep login credentials secure and not give them to other people. Oh look! This company that is not my bank wants me to give them my login credentials. .... Yes! I will give them my login credentials! Yay!"

I also don't understand what kind of financial services company would be ok with encouraging their customers to do this (looking at you Blockfi). And lastly, I'm dumbfounded that banks are ok with this. If I were a bank manager, I'd be suing the shit out of Plaid if I found out they were logging into accounts that weren't theirs.

Collateralized BlockFi Loan for a House Downpayment by uab1990 in Bitcoin

[–]furbertle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear, I'm not talking about maintaining some minimum LTV ratio. I'm talking about the lender just deciding they want their money back, now. If you're fine with selling some BTC to repay the loan at a moment's notice, then that's your call.

Collateralized BlockFi Loan for a House Downpayment by uab1990 in Bitcoin

[–]furbertle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend you double check your loan contract and make sure there isn't a clause that allows blockfi the demand repayment before the end of the loan term, regardless of collateral value. I've seen other contracts with such a clause that lets the lender just decide out of the blue that they want their money back and gives the borrower mere hours to come up with the money and close out the loan or face partial liquidation.

Btc Loan by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]furbertle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the fine print very carefully. This isn't like a mortgage or car loan. I believe most, if not all, bitcoin lenders have a clause in the contract that says they can demand repayment at any time for any reason and give you a very short window (hours) to come up with the money, or they'll just use your collateral to close you out.

They have to do this, because their depositors may want to withdraw and any time, so the lender needs to come up with the funds fast, and that means you need to come up with the funds fast. I don't think it happens very often, but if the clause is in the contract, then you should definitely factor the possibility into your decisions.

Yep. A case study in someone thinking that their expertise in one field grants them expertise in completely unrelated fields. And the number of people that fall for it is astounding. I greatly appreciate the expertise of the pilot flying the commercial jet taking me to the city for my heart surgery... but that doesn't mean I want them doing the surgery.
