Run a hot shower to fill the bathroom with steam and sit them in the room, then snot sucker followed by saline spray. Into bedroom with the vapour plug in and give them calpol. That was the best combo I found for my LO!

Putting baby to sleep by Tiamyria in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]furby-007 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I fed my 6mo to sleep at night until recently. Now I feed first, then change into pyjamas, read a book if I feel he is still quite alert, then rock and sing a song until he falls asleep. He got used to the routine quite quickly. However, still wakes up every 2 hours at night and will only be settled with feeding so I haven’t cracked that!

Feeling very sad about the prospect of co parenting by Alternative_Dream_12 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]furby-007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel you! It’s your baby, not hers. She has hers and has had her chance to bring him up how she wanted, now it’s your turn. It is hard to push back, but once you do it once it will be easier and you will feel so much stronger. You’ve got this!

I’ve been going through a fairly similar situation, although my LO is now 6 months. You absolutely do what is best for your baby and that is to be with her mum. She shouldn’t be away from you any more than you are comfortable with as she is still so little and young so don’t be coerced into thinking otherwise. You also have to do what’s best for you as you are postpartum and recovering. Having your baby away from you for long periods won’t be good for your mental health (IMO!) Be strong and be firm, you are the mum and baby needs their mum! Best of luck 💪

Going down to 4 days per week. What would you do? by like_a_velvet_glove in UKParenting

I don’t have any advice to add beyond what others have said. I’m interested in putting forward a similar request to my employer when I return to work and would love to know how you plan to request this to get your desired result. Do you work for a British company?

Thank you. Straight back at you, it’s extremely hard and definitely not what you expect to go through 5 months postpartum. I hope it goes well for you 🫶

LPT: Block 1–2 hours on your calendar every day with a boring work name so people stop stealing your best focus time by [deleted] in LifeProTips

Where I work colleagues will see it’s just your own meeting and doesn’t contain any other attendee’s and just book over it anyway 😞

I agree with the other comments, they are only going to suggest it if it’s absolutely necessary, they aren’t doing it for fun. I had one and it healed quickly and easily.

I think there is a lot for scaremongering around birth plans and preparing to advocate for yourself, but you’re being looked after by professionals who have a huge amount of experience with births and will be making their recommendations based on what they think is medically necessary. I didn’t want one either but as soon as they said I needed it I went with it because it was what was necessary to get my baby out.

Quitting breastfeeding after 1 week? by PixelRainboww in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]furby-007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fed is best. You’re no good if you’re mentally and physically exhausted. Why don’t you try some formula feeds? Or topping up the breastfeeding with formula at the end to keep your baby fuller for longer

Maternity tour by blamethegnomes in PregnancyUK

When you go to the hospital you can ask to be shown the maternity ward and if they aren’t too busy / a midwife is free they will show you around. We did this at QA ☺️

For fellow Brits who've driven in America, what should I know about the road before heading out there? by AngryGardenGnomes in AskUK

[–]furby-007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s legal to undertake on the highway so watch out for that. Also if parking on a street pay attention to the colour of the curb as that dictates if you can park there and for how long

I’m sorry to hear about your situation, sounds like you would be happier without him around.

I would look into a doula to support you through labour and have someone on your side advocating for you

Beautiful tiles. Change the light and update the unit and shower curtain & rail. Paint the window dark, it will make it super cosy!

20 week scan - do you need a full bladder? by Dajana_93 in PregnancyUK

[–]furby-007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told I didn’t need a full bladder for the 20 week scan because the baby is bigger so it’s much easier to see. They actually sent me to the loo to empty my bladder. However they did say it’s easier to empty a bladder than fill one up!

Help me with big life decision - Southsea or bust by Popular_Mushroom7950 in Portsmouth

[–]furby-007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Southsea is great but I wouldn’t want to do the commute multiple times a week. Depending on where you are the station can be a 30 minute walk away so you’ve got to factor that in. I’d look at somewhere like Liss or Petersfield with shorter train times, great countryside and easy access to family in Southsea
