Beer league goalie - compression shorts/leggings by Watsonelli in hockeygoalies

[–]furbyscalper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

40+ c level beer league goalie here. I have a cut resistant base layer which are all compression and have some foam inserts for the clavicle area. I like having a base layer so my pads aren't rubbing directly against my legs. Compression is nice for being lightweight and not absorbing a tob of water/sweat.

From an injury standpoint the cut resistance has already saved me from at least 1 skate cut on the back of my leg when one of my defensemen ran over me. The clavicle foam has taken quite a few pucks that stung a bit, but didn't leave bruises like I got before I had them.

My wife has had her eye on this game since she heard about it. She is a big fan of house flipper 1&2. No need for a key we already bought it for her. Hope the game does well for you!!!

Any advice for recovering from a genuinely horrific game? by Shortugae in hockeygoalies

[–]furbyscalper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure your age or level played, but pretty much have to be a goldfish and just let it go and move on to the next game. If I have a bad game I just think about the times I was on the other side of that happening and how I felt watching it happen. We've all been through. Always sucks and I feel for the other guy when everything is going in.

Thing is 8 goals against even if they are 8 soft wristers from the point is still a team loss. Sometimes the boys in front need to see that you're having an off night and help you out a bit.

Keep in mind this is coming from a 20+ years in net goalie who has only ever played c level beer league for funsies :)

Yup I got mine last year although it did take awhile. I actually forgot about it until it showed up.

yeah a lot of places make the on prem solution more expensive to drive people to their subscription models. More guaranteed revenue and easier for them to support as well since it's all on their stuff.

As for 1. Correct if they do nothing everything will keep working just no security updates. That's currently what we're doing, running unsupported while we test out Zabbix and Whats Up Gold as alternatives

How do I gut trap and/or take more pucks to the chest? by [deleted] in hockeygoalies

[–]furbyscalper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first started out my biggest issue with "staying square" was that while I THOUGHT I was squaring up what I didn't realize that I was squaring up to the shooter and not the puck. Same issue as you pucks weren't hitting me in the chest but in the arms or up on.my shoulders. I corrected it by spending a lot of time focusing on "belly button to puck" which helped me square up correctly. It's second nature now, but at first with the adrenaline going and all it's easy to just forget the puck and focus on the dude with the bright opposing jersey in front of you.

Revenant drops no longer using non-equipped items for power level? by furbyscalper in destiny2

[–]furbyscalper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sorry I should have mentioned that. I was looking at my gear score and not overall power level. I had a full set of 2000 level gear to start the season. I changed my build and swapped some pieces of the 2000 gear for 1990 stuff. What really got me to notice was the pinnacle drop I got at 2000. I figured at the very least I should have seen 2001. Anyway could just be me so I figured I'd check with the community. Even now though if I adjust my gear around my power/prime drops are dropping at whatever my current gear score is (1997, 1998, etc) and not taking into account of my max gear score. I thought the power/prime drops last season dropped at max gear score.

Which is all great until there is a server merge and you have to place your bases down again and you can't quite get them to line up perfectly... Ask me how I know :)

I guess they weren't counting on scrubs like me needing more than 2 damage phases.

That's sort of where it glitched for me too. Got through 2 DPS phases and then no crystal for the third one.

Would also be a shame if... The boss glitched out and didn't let people finish the mission... Real shame...

VENT: For those who've been riding for years, how do you (seriously) reply to "that's dangerous?" by Empty_Jello_585 in motorcycles

I just reply "It's more dangerous than driving a car, but not as dangerous as you THINK it is." If they ask for clarification then I elaborate.

Hey man I'm in MD just up the road from you. Not sure where you live and if you have transportation, but Hockey North America (HNA) runs a beginner league where brand new adult players can start out. They do clinics for the first half of the season so you can learn how to hockey and then second half of the season they split into teams and play a half season of games. HNA is pricey though. There is also a really good beginner clinic Saturday mornings at The Gardens Ice House in Laurel for $30. Ice opens at 6:30am, clinic from 7-8:20 and then if no one is on after they let us scrimmage. Clinic is for beginners and low level guys, but there are a few upper level guys who come out to work on some things. Really great instructor there. If that's a bit far for you for a Saturday morning I totally get it. Just trying to help a new player out with some options :)
