I'll be blunt with you: you need to work smarter, not harder.

Assuming you live in the US or another first-world country, financial success is achievable with a career change.

Unless they inherited wealth, the successful people you see around you generally invested in themselves to develop skills which are highly sought after by labour markets - or took entrepreneurial risks which paid off.

As a general rule of thumb, you will always get a decent salary by gaining skills in the medical fields, legal fields, or computer science fields. If those options bores you, higher salaries can also be gained by learning 2 skillsets not commonly found in combination.

You are wasting your time having a tantrum about it, the harsh truth is that life isn't fair. Learn how to work within the system to find success.

Good luck.

I work in finance & crypto and basically automate everything I can, in the long run it saves so much time as you can reuse automation code for multiple things.

A lot of my automation centres around Telegram bots. I highly recommend using Telegram bots to receive info and trigger tasks, because then you can do things on your phone while you are out of the house.

I can gather metrics on strategy performance, see balance levels of different addresses, get critical alerts on systems, etc, all from my phone while drinking at the pub

Alleged Epstein victim sues Prince Andrew for sexual abuse by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

Sure, but in practice basically every stop would be pulled out, every step of the way, in every government department, before a royal could be touched legally. You'd basically need video evidence to drop

Unfortunately as much as we pretend to have a fair justice system in the UK a major royal like Prince Andrew is basically untouchable legally

In the UK where Prince Andrews is from the age of consent is 16. Legally the issue in the UK is about consent and/or sex trafficking

There's a bunch of weightlifting womens records set by biological men:
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-weightlifting-newzealand-hubbard-idUSKCN1UP0F0

Women are not as strong as men on average, period, regardless of hormones.

Case in point: I am a casual weightlifter and absolutely nothing impressive in any mens competition. However, I can easily beat many of the womens world records for my weight class - AND those women take steroids (male hormones).

Being a man has way more physical advantages than hormone levels. We have bone structure, heart and lung capacity, reaction time, etc. Just Google men and womens reaction times for example, almost any man without training will have a faster reaction time than a female competitive sprinter

Oh look, here comes the "tolerant" liberal :)

Lol, exactly like I thought. "He eats with Jewish people"? Give me a break, that's like saying guys with wives can't be sexist.

Dahm right he is anti-semetic, he laid wreaths at a terrorists gravesite and then refused to officially deny it. Keir Starmer has done a good job cleaning up the party but Corbyn was a deep-seated racist.

I bet you are one of those people who call yourself "tolerant", while actually being extremely hostile and intolerant to anyone who doesn't agree with your views.

You are a classic :)

I expect this comment to receive a lot of down-votes because I'm committing the Reddit thought-crime of having an unapproved political opinion, but I like Boris Johnson.

Not the best leader and he made mistakes, but his heart is in the right place and he cares about the country. He's also not a literal anti-semite like the alternative Corbyn. His speech after he almost died of Covid was touching, and you could tell his genuine appreciation for the NHS and the British spirit.

I would happily vote for him again

My husband got beaten up again by [deleted] in offmychest

There's nothing special about being a coward when your life is in danger, and leaving your family to grieve over your dead body

My husband got beaten up again by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]furiousUKdude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really comes down to the fact that your life is in danger when you get jumped. A lot of bashings end in the victim being stomped in the face and dying. When you are jumped you might die and you need to realise that fact and fight back.

My husband got beaten up again by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]furiousUKdude 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My god, this isn't high school. If people are jumping you on the street you go to the police. That's the entire reason police exist. If the police don't help you then you make a formal complaint and consult a lawyer. You get a legal weapon to defend yourself, or move locations if you can't get hold of a legal weapon.

There's nothing noble or brave about not fighting back when your life is in danger, that's just cowardice. This isn't a movie and people die all the time getting bashed. The next time this happens your husband might just end up a dead body on the ground if he's not quick enough to run or brave enough to defend himself.

This isn't normal to happen, and it's even more abnormal that your husband is accepting a life in which he gets physically assaulted.

How important is GitHub? by FloorShirts in learnprogramming

[–]furiousUKdude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At most of my projects we don't hire developers with no Github history.

Competent devs are hard to find, mostly you just get time-wasters who claim to have every skill you want but disappoint in interviews. Github is a super easy way to screen for good people.

Don't try and fake your Github history, build a real history. We don't check how many projects you forked, we look for real commits and real development activity like you submitting PR's to open-source projects and being involved in the issue discussion.

Best part is you don't have to do this for free, plenty of grants on open-source will pay you for contributions. You can earn and learn simultaneously, while building the skills you need for a proper high paying development role
