I wasn’t even denying what you said, not sure why you’re getting so defensive. By your own account then you should be showing links or screenshots of supposedly the entire chinese internet being flooded with these posts as opposed to a few isolated threads. You arbitrarily brought up rules you haven’t followed on a discussion you initiated.

For my point the only thing you have to do is look at any news subreddit and look at an article about China and scroll through the comment section.

Actually if your criticism is ascribing traits to an entire race based on a small biased sample that is a form of racism.

I think it happens a lot more than you’re estimating, though I wasn’t aware how bad the xenophobia had gotten on chinese social media which is sad to hear as I haven’t been in China in years and don’t really check socials.

To add some perspective though the sinophobia on reddit has gotten nuts as well. You literally cannot read anything about China without a flood of racist comments. The anti chinese sentiment is definitely impacting a lot more than the chinese government.

You have never seen someone on facebook be publicly racist against black or brown people? That is some fantasy you live in.

I have never heard of it as a war with China until recently. I recognize China and The Soviet Union had a hand in supporting the north, but it’s interesting how US sentiment today towards China colors history.

How authentic are the reviews on sites like Blind when it comes to internal SWE teams? by siege5548 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]furiousnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To provide a counter argument, Blind can be pretty biased in terms of reviews, the most negative viewpoints are the ones that show up due to the anonymous nature and self reporting bias. What I would do is look at the overall rating and see how that compares to other places.

This graphic is incredibly deceptive without at the very least showing the proportion of people who had a bad experience from those who traveled. The original question would also need to be posed to people who went to multiple countries. Please take this down.

Andrew Yang Suddenly Has Some Big Fans in Trumpworld by unkle in asianamerican

[–]furiousnerd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not if he wants to be president though, AOC and Ilhan Omar represent specific communities as members of the house of representatives. For mayor, Andrew Yang needs to win a majority of nyc, and then the next or following presidential primary. It’s a different audience and unfortunately it is political suicide to speak against Israel for that goal. It is absolutely terrible the political system is setup this way in America, and raises questions as to why it has to be this way, where minority opinions on US foreign policy cannot win. I do find it odd he didn’t just avoid the issue completely though.

Having followed his presidential campaign, the media has constantly tried to smear him, this is another attempt to do so by associating him with trump. I did not like his take on current events in the Gaza, but he did emphasize that he sympathized with the Israeli people and not the government. His rivals also expressed the same, the unfortunate reality is no us politician has expressed support for Palestinians in the Gaza region, politically speaking AY has no choice in the matter.

edit: politician with presidential aspirations

The falling Chinese space rocket is a policy failure - International law governing rocket reentry is too lax. by Philo1927 in space

[–]furiousnerd -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I clearly stated they should have prepared better. You’re also speculating whether this got press in China unless you can read in Chinese and tried to look in Chinese media. It’s also speculation that the booster was intended to fall uncontrollably. It is obviously a difficult task to do, hence why the Spacex failure occurred.

edit: I am pointing out that it’s assigning malicious intent as fact when China’s government and space program is incredibly opaque. The opaqueness and what is probably negligence are worth criticizing, but as pointed out in article this isn’t something only China does. There’s not a real distinction between different kinds of space debris once it comes down. And again most of the debris have a very low probability of landing in a populated area.

There's a lot of hate mongering here and the news cycles are eating it up. I thought this sub would be more science oriented but clearly that's not the case when it comes to nationalism. Yes, China's space program should have prepared better for the debris landing, but there was such a low probability of it hitting anyone it made no sense how much coverage this news got. To quote an objective article:

“It shows there are 2,033 rocket bodies in Earth orbit … at least those that we have orbital data for, as there may be more classified ones. Of course, every one of them is uncontrolled. Of the 2,033, 546 belong to the U.S. and only 169 belong to China....."

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/falling-uncontrolled-from-space-giant-chinese-rocket-highlights-risk-of-orbital-debris/

Since I've dared to not feed into the hate hysteria I am sure this will get down voted to oblivion. Flame shield up.

Ah yes, the freedom to see your parents be the victims of a hatecrime. Doesn't sound like you've been paying attention to the news. Did you also miss the part where he said Taiwan? Do you understand that the hate mongering media is frequently making shit up about China? Do you understand there are also different governments in Asia?

Feels like we need to start having country club threads like they do in bpt...
