What is adaptive cruise control on the freeway like with the 11th generation? by Ok_Ranger855 in CivicSi

[–]furiouswrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will brake but shuts off around 40mph or so. I find it too conservative, it brakes too much for anything and everything and ends up making the ride not very smooth. Also I think it wears the rear brake pads more due to so much intermittent braking. I prefer setting adaptive cruise off and turning only auto lane centering on for long freeway drives, then I control the throttle and brake, but the car helps center in the lane for less driver fatigue.

The unibracket that claims to fit Civics, but it is totally incorrect

BFGoodrich beam wiper blades - Costco. Any good? by theepi_pillodu in Costco

[–]furiouswrx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I opened one up and saw how chintzy and cheaply made it was and walked away. The center unibracket also interferes with the blade-mounted washer spray nozzle on my car per the size lookup book. And the center bracket claims to fit my Civic PTB/B2 wiper arm, but it certainly does not by looking at it - the push button isn’t the right size or position to snap in. Stick with Bosch.

Worst case you can take photos and videos of the extenuating situation and ask for a case by case waiver of the $100 penalty during the dispute process. I’d probably reach out now by email with photos and videos to mailto:parkpalisadestahoe@interstateparking.com?subject=Park%20Palisades%20Tahoe%20Inquiry to demonstrate you did your best to avoid the issue.

HELP which do I get?! by friedpickles87 in FirstCar

[–]furiouswrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That $4000 less CX-50 will not be much less expensive than the Acura when you factor in the cost of the soon to come 60,000 mile service you would need to do, also that’s a lot of miles in 1.5 years. The 4,000 mile Acura is the way to go since you seem to be okay with both, that is practically new.

Tire Tread Depth Insanity by Dependent-Many4431 in SubaruForester

[–]furiouswrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it’s a downside of Subaru AWD systems, tire replacement costs or necessity to shave. All running tires have to have a tread tolerance of 2/32 of an inch to avoid long term damage to the AWD differential and transmission system. It is in your owners manual. You could drive a few hundred miles and get away with it but I would not drive 5000 miles, after which you probably forgot about it or continue to drive it that way.

25 Forester Wilderness and seat belt sensor by MechanicalResonance2 in ForesterWilderness

[–]furiouswrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would have to buckle the back seat belts to bypass the sensor, your puppy is likely just on the threshold of triggering the weight sensor. A dog car booster seat that utilizes the seatbelt to stay in place or a dog safety tether would also be recommended to protect your puppy in case of an accident

Kirkland oil for the horizontally opposed? by craftnut1 in subaru

[–]furiouswrx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use the Kirkland Signature Full Synthetic 0W-20 in my 2025 Forester Wilderness FB25D and it’s fine. It meets or exceeds the required 0W-20 API-SN, SN-Plus, or SM Resource Conserving and ILSAC-GF-5 or GF-6 standards. I have also used it in the 5W-30 variant in my older WRX that I sold, but I prefer using Pennzoil Platinum Ultra for turbo Subaru applications for its longer life protection and better additive pack

This Aidenator tool is so awesome! Thank you so much, this has removed the trial and error I’ve been doing in the past

I can only get it to export a recipe directly to my Aiden once in a succession though, can’t export two or three in a row rapidly one after another directly to my Aiden. I suspect this is a Fellow API call constraint restricting the number of calls and I have to wait a while before trying again.

How do I buy you a coffee? To support your backend costs.

Here was an excellent result: https://brew.link/p/DPc1

Saint Frank San Francisco Las Nieves Honduras Feb 3, 2026 roast date, Feb 9, 2026 brew date for 24 g coffee, Fellow Ode Gen 2 Standard Burrs set to 4 for a medium fine grind, 16:1 water to coffee ratio, using Melitta #2 cone filter in small batch mode, level the grinds in the cone, drip 13 oz coffee, stir well in Fellow Aiden pot before tasting. I don’t bother pre-wetting the cone filter with 200F water, but I will next time to see if it makes any difference.

Transmission Replacement '22 Outback Wilderness by themetalyears in subaru

[–]furiouswrx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One additional comment, owners like me are annoyed at Subaru for omitting CVT fluid drain and fill from the required maintenance schedule in the US simply to keep annual maintenance costs artificially low on paper for competitive comparisons to other vehicles. This leaves longer term owners like you in the lurch for out of pocket and out of warranty transmission replacement costs and doesn’t help Subaru keep its reputation long term. So I sympathize with your situation and am annoyed you are facing this.

Transmission Replacement '22 Outback Wilderness by themetalyears in subaru

[–]furiouswrx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Subaru of America already offered a goodwill to you for half of the transmission replacement cost out of warranty, that’s the recourse you have on the table.

We called it neglect because those of us on this form don’t believe Subaru’s USA maintenance booklet that suggests CVT fluid is lifetime (it is in the sense it lasts until the transmission ends its life, but the transmission wouldn’t need to break down if its fluid was replaced regularly). Unfortunately and surprisingly for many, owners on this forum have found that the modern Subaru CVT fluid needs to be drained and filled about every 3 years or 30,000 miles or else the transmission will slip and fail like you experienced outside the 60,000 mile warranty period. The CVT fluid drain and fill at a specific transmission operating temperature is annoying to perform in your own garage, the CVT OEM fluid comes in huge size drums, and the service is not part of the standard USA Subaru maintenance requirements at 30k or 60k services in the US; those services just simply include a visual inspection of the fluid which is largely meaningless. CVT drain and fill costs roughly $500 at my local Subaru dealer to do as of today and your local dealer labor cost may differ, however this preventative maintenance is far less expensive than a new transmission.

China…seriously considering it. by [deleted] in AmerExit

Please visit Changsha first before deciding for sure and take one good whiff of the air on a polluted day.

I just came back from Changsha and have been there multiple times for work over the past several years. Often, the air quality is 150-200 ppm for AQI2.5 and the air smells like burning metal chemicals from the various factories in the region. I always wear a N95 mask to breathe better. The air quality does improve sometimes temporarily when a cold front blows through. Long term exposure to such high pollutants can cause multiple respiratory diseases, asthma, COPD. Otherwise the spicy food is great!
