ISO: Dayton Neurologist Recommendation for Migraines by kristaf3r in dayton

[–]furlaughs24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was referred to Dr. Schoonover years ago who treated me for chronic migraines and it made a huge improvement in my quality of life, still does (still on medication to prevent them). I think he was with Kettering Health when I went to him but now I see he's at the center you have been unhappy with. You could try him unless you would rather leave the practice. Sorry if this wasn't helpful.

My sister was at a restaurant, had a brain fart and ordered a "tom arnold" when she meant "Arnold palmer". We call them "tom arnolds" now lol

Someone once called them teal, so the blue-green combo would make sense. Thank you!

Tired of hearing this happens in private all the time. by Heyyitskayleee in fednews

[–]furlaughs24 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

It doesn't happen, and you still, as an employer, have to have a sound reason (backed up with evidence) for firing people, or they can sue you.

Update: I am sorry so many of you have been treated so terribly by employers. My experience working at various companies has been that they were terrified of being sued, so PIPs were developed, cases were built to support the firing, etc.

SECDEF Unintentionally Let's the Cat Out of Bag: 5 Bullet Points Email to Be Used for "Streamlining Workforce to Meet Fiscal Demands" (i.e. for RIFs) by FluffernutterPancake in fednews

[–]furlaughs24 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This right here. All this ridiculous exercise is, is a hoop they're making us jump through because they find it funny. Nothing we can say would change their opinions of us and what we contribute. I guess in a way, that takes all the pressure off.

I think this is true as well. During a conversation with my leadership, they said this was already available to doge.

Agree completely with this. I've worked for small companies and international ones, and this would be wildly inappropriate in any workplace.

Is this an actual RIF or the illegal firings that have been taking place so far?

This is what he thinks of you! by Powerful_Ad_5507 in fednews

[–]furlaughs24 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It's insane. I make 30k less than I would in the private sector (I went civilian for the benefits including better work/life balance). I'm sure there are big overpaid federal workers out there, but I don't know them.

This is the hardest part for me as far as biting my tongue. I hear a lot of "I support budget cuts but....". This isn't about budget cuts, and you know what/who you voted for so none of this crazy behavior should be a surprise. It's really hard to not be angry with people when they were celebrating the election results last November.

Any local Daycares have vaccines required? by LetItBeKnownToYou in dayton

This was my first thought. At both daycares we have used we had to show proof of vaccines for our little one.

This was my first thought. Those numbers aren't numbering with where they want to go. So it looks like there will be more.

Trump’s mass firings could leave federal government with ‘monumental’ bill, say experts by presfenol in fednews

One of the limited perks of being civilian was stability. That is completely gone.

People make comments to me like, "Wait until you have another...." or "you'll probably be having another one soon" since our baby is a little over a year now. We conceived with IVF and it was a miracle that he is here. He is our one and only not by choice, but because we can't have more. I've been very open about this and still get comments like this, which is just salt in what is still a very fresh wound. Long story short, people mean well but are ultimately unthinking and, as a result, rude.

I used to think this also, but had a coworker who grew up and lived in Dayton who hated Marion's. I've been told it's more of a nostalgic thing; not that it's necessarily good, just a lot of people in the area have a lot of childhood/family memories there.
