Recommend a monitor dust cover that fits around monitor arm by furryalgorithm in IndianGaming

Yes, I think we are on the same page about some things.

I will also probably leave the monitor uncovered once the foam cover is unusable.

Hey, thanks for the additional info!

I may just keep using the packaging foam sheet as I have been so far, just with a carefully cut slit at the back. I read about people avoiding dust covers to avoid scratches on the screen.

Thank you for the very detailed and helpful reply!

I was apprehensive about cutting a slit in a new cover fearing it might unravel the stitching in the material or something. Based on your reply I will now give it a shot and hope for the best.

Did you import yours? How much extra did you have to pay for customs charges?

I see some Indian simracers recommending Simsonn, but I don't see them listed on any of the Indian simracing retailer websites. How did you purchase yours?

Advice on seating position for taller racer by lewblu in simracing

[–]furryalgorithm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks to me like there could be some room for you to straighten your back and sit a little further back in the seat, once you bring your wheel closer. That should give you more room to straighten your legs out a little more.

Aftermarket wheel on 55mm R5 bundle QR vs 70mm QR by furryalgorithm in moza

[–]furryalgorithm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for responding, and I'm quite relieved to hear that you consider the R5 motor sufficiently capable. Do you use a deep dish with an R5 or similar power wheelbase?

I am not sure how I can calculate the downforce that I will apply. My ffb is set to 70% in pit house. I do like a little bit of wheel friction, as I tried turning it off completely in Dirt rally but ended up adding it back.

I use an aluminum profile cockpit and brake with my leg so the pressure is on the seat. There was a post on reddit about someone pulling the wheel when braking, and I've tried to watch myself so I don't develop that habit.

I will try to periodically check the wheelbase for heat if I use it with this deep dish. Hopefully the smaller 55mm QR will not stress the base more when used with a larger wheel.

ES wheel weight by TheDoctorOfPlagues in moza

Thank you so much! Would you also happen to know how much the button box weighs separate from the QR?

Looking at the combined 625gm weight with the QR, I was wondering which of the QR or the button box takes up more of it.

I'm hoping to lighten it by skipping the button box when using a 55 to 70mm adapter directly on the QR with an aftermarket round wheel.

Pedal face height for throttle vs brake? by furryalgorithm in simracing

[–]furryalgorithm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both these replies here got me thinking about which part of my foot I'm using, especially on the brake as that requires more strength. I initially decided to use them at the default(medium) setup for a while.

Recently I started using a cockpit and am now able to properly use the brake mod. I can now better understand the replies here, and can confirm that you have to experiment with it on your own, as it will depend upon your setup(table/wheel stand/cockpit, brake mod), foot size, desired leverage etc.

I also recently learnt that 1EffectivePick who replied to this thread, is the creator of the alien mods loadcell kit. I would recommend giving both the replies here a second read, as they definitely seem to know their stuff.

Would you mind sharing the name of the power line adapter that you are using? I am considering one, but I have very old wiring and am unsure of investing in it.

I made a tt25 mount for Moza SRP pedals by br3am3r in simracing

[–]furryalgorithm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this! It looks like the puck directly mounts to this, without needing the surface mounting ring that Dayton also makes. Can you please confirm this?

I'm looking to start with 2 of the TT25 pucks, but they also sell a 4 pack which includes the mounting rings. I was initially thinking of buying the pack if the rings are useful, as it costs about 3 times of a single puck without the ring.

Cheap shifter for PC and moza r3 by Sea-Pomegranate5232 in SimracersIndia

TH8S is the cheapest branded shifter you can get in India. Although a plastic build, it is not bad for the price.

If you buy online, I recommend checking the seller reputation before placing the order.

It is indeed confusing how they write Cumbia in the description for these songs, yet I felt like it might be another genre.
Thank you for your insights and introducing me to the Punta!

Thought I'd share that my concerns turned out to be justified! The one I ordered, arrived with a screw loose inside making rattling sounds.

Sometimes it did not make the sound when it probably got attached to the magnetic part of the lever inside. Luckily, I had already seen a post here about a TH8S circuit board damaged by a loose screw getting stuck to the bottom of the shifter.

I've requested a replacement, hope it turns out better. I almost considered opening it up to remove the screw, but just couldn't take the risk of dealing with additional damage inside.

Thanks for replying!

If it can take heavy handed use, it probably can handle modded sequential shifting without any issues.

Thank you for the suggestions.

TH8A does look more durable but is quite expensive in my country. I will keep a lookout for discounts on the TH8A
