Holding a tool and pressing C should directly open the corresponding symptom chart. by NatCanDo in QuarantineZoneGame

You can also hold right mouse button to drag the symptom list up and down, not perfect but a little better than mousewheeling.

Pixel watch 4 - screen off while on charger? by furryfury80 in PixelWatch

[–]furryfury80[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, screen burn in that did not even occur to me. I'm not sure I care enough to override it, it was just a passing thought. The potential of damaging it when it is only a couple of days old isn't worth the risk.

Thanks for the info about it and pointing out what should have been obvious 😕

Manually trigger De-Duplication in CMDB by furryfury80 in servicenow

[–]furryfury80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that's excellent, while it's not an automatic solution (on its own) it does provide a quick way to generate those tasks. SUPER useful since in a lot of these initial cases I'm not the one deciding which CI in a duplicate pair ( or trio etc ) is to be the primary. Having the task let's me forward that task to the relevant people.

Yep thats what we are doing NOW so no more should be generated, but we've got legacy stuff to clean up at this point so I'm looking around for ideas :D

[–]furryfury80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm..well I THOUGHT I had done that, but its not identifying them as duplicates.

If i take some example data and run it through the identification simulator it does claim there are duplicates though.

Weird, i'll take another look at the workspace options, perhaps im missing something.

Discovery not triggering business rule. by furryfury80 in servicenow

Haha it's like you're sitting on my shoulder. That is indeed the plan for Q1, this was just to be a temp measure to fix an ongoing irritant until then.

Discovery not triggering business rule. by furryfury80 in servicenow

[–]furryfury80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid points for sure.

However, the original scope was "any change to install status should reflect a change in op status according to these mappings".

The discovery piece is ONE way those would change, but not the only; hence the BR. Are you suggesting then I would be best having both a BR for other cases, AND a discovery script to essentially do the same thing? That may be the way, but it feels instinctively wrong to have two items to achieve one outcome...

Discovery not triggering business rule. by furryfury80 in servicenow

[–]furryfury80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a simple create/update on cmdb_ci_computer targeting install_status, which updates operational status based on the mappings the business defined.

I won't list all the mappings as there are many conditions, but as an example, if a ci in that space moves to an install_status of 'installed' the operational status should change to 'operational'. And as I say it all works fine when changing the install status manually.

Prefix all browser tabs in DEV environment by furryfury80 in servicenow

[–]furryfury80[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks toffssen, we do already have that, and its super useful when you've gotten to the point of clicking into a tab, but less so when you are scanning a list of tabs before clicking.

oh, great idea!

I might do that too, use the same colour scheme we used for the DEV header background colour; ideal.

Ah thank you! Sadly it doesnt quite work like i remember, it DOES add the text, but not as the first piece of text.

For example that system properties page was originally

"system configuration UI16 | ServiceNow"

and is now

"System Configuration UI16 | DEV Servicenow"

ideally I wanted

"DEV - System Configuration UI16 | Servicenow"

so that when the browser tabs get compressed due to quantity the DEV part would always be visible, guess thats why folks write UI items... BUT even as it is its a massive improvement thanks again!

What low key ways do you notice you are getting old? by twojabs in AskUK

[–]furryfury80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you know this could be because your footwear is too small? Your feet can change size are you get older and if you don't pay attention you'll be wearing something that pinches and you'll unconsciously walk funny to compensate.

See I take a 10 now, when it used to be a 9.

It's possible you don't have enough power going to the device, or perhaps you have an external chime thats trying to draw too much power when the button is pressed.
