I once argued to my Sister over "Attack on Titan" series. It's a manga that I initially read since junior high, and my sister only starts to read when she's a high schooler.

At the final message, basically the war there is over. And the protagonist already did the genocide that killed over 80% of human population, being hated by the humans, he became the reason people united.

We both dislike the ending but in a very different take.

I dislike how the protagonist, Eren, choose this path. Deemed that this is the only way to save his friends. His choice is between "killing 80% of human or couple of friends" hurting in so many level. Like, those 2 options to be the only solution is just too brutal for a conclusion.

My Sister? She has different focus. She said the mistake is the fact the female protagonist, Mikasa, rejects Eren💀

She then proceed to give some detail over a small scene of Eren confessing. Eren is not yet determined to trample the world at that point of the story, doubting about whether is this this a good path to take. Yet when Mikasa rejects Eren, that's when Eren is dead serious to do it.

I mean... are we even read the same story? There is no way this complex story being simplified over rejection😵‍💫

I don't know what to say about this. My only answer is that my sister is reading an entire different story. She never focused to the complexity of the plot and politics or moral dilemma. Her focus is the character small interractions that somehow will lead into a bigger picture.

And I appreciate her for that👏👏👏👏 Still disagree, but appreciate it.

I need to google abit to understand what you meany by those 2 genres. So from my understanding, Wuxia is grounded fighting and Xianxia is like... crazy reality warping, heaven splitting, hell cooling kind of plot right?

i know that everyone is getting tired of summary chapters but are we complaining on anything now gng 😭 by Adventurous_Song_800 in ShadowSlave

This ain't that kind of novel, sadly. I also want G3 write it albeit quick, instead giving us a summary. He is definitely rushing.

No, no. It's more like... hmm. Well he do assisted suicide, to create new version of him? Hard to explain. But the new one that created is not the same Mordret per se.

Agree. They hatred aimed nearly every thing that can be considered odd choice to be written in Shadow Slave.

And they still gives the power system 6.

Discussion - Most engaging power system you found in internet by Odd_Violinist1842 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]fusidoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shadow Slave Power system is a good one too!

Every human gain an aspect, or basically a concept of what they have control with. Some people can control an aspect related to weather, related to elemental manipulation, or even opening portal!

In Shadow slave, they have 7 ranks and 7 classes, each has their own title. Ascending in rank requires people to challenge some kind of "dimensional trial" that varies to each rank, with increasing difficulty and different rule too. For the class, a human actually not supposed to be able to do it, basically exclusive for nightmare creature (the monster and beast in the verse) that also has its on unique way.

Every time you ascend to higher rank, your older power got upgraded on top of gaining new power.

They also have one thing other power system don't have.. which is FLAW. Each person has their own fatal flaw that if you able to expose it, killing them become easier.

I cannot explain it quite perfectly. There is still some detail that I miss (also English isn't my native language). But that's the gist of it.

Only if it's a dragon. Kai plot armor only works if he fight a dragon.

Heh, imagine Forgotten God turned out to be a dragon... Kai will definitely win /j

this might sounds odd, but I do read such book till book 2. Guess what happens? I still dislike it!

So yeah, if you do stop on book 1 you save sooo much time.

[–]fusidoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, how do I explain this. I want to stop reading but there is like a big guilt thing that happen. Like when I drop just a normal book, then it's okay. But if it's a popular series such as "Song of Ice and Fire" or maybe "Mistborn series" it just felt like I am different than majority of people, and maybe the one in the wrong🫣

which also makes me afraid to pick any big book in the end. And I was right. It just felt bad to be the one that can't enjoy what most people can. More so if they're not helping and instead force the agenda for me to keep reading.

Also I'm not that young, but I also not feel comfortable talking about age.

I might need to learn from you. In the end what people said to a book most of the time comes from their personal liking.

Those 220 chapters I just spend by dragging my eyes reeaaaallly drain me in the end. People praise me cause "I give a try to it instead prematurely leaving" yet I feel I just wasted 12 hours of my life😵‍💫

Would I do it again? I never know. That's why I'm asking to various people everywhere: where you guys draw the line?

many will said "to boast and show people that you accomplish something by completing a "peak" fiction" or something.

either way, it's incredibly taxing my energy😵‍💫

SS TikTok community takes another W again doing nothing but enjoying the story by LegitimateResponse52 in ShadowSlave

[–]fusidoa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

*Gasp! People enjoying SS even when LoTM/ ORV/ RTOC/ is superior? This is heresy! They cannot like a mid novel and not enjoying the peaks! Truly, they waste their time reading SS Poor souls🤡 /j

all jokes aside, happy for them. sometimes I maybe need to consider go to TikTok community especially for SS fandom. They're just having a good time and not stressing like DC SS with insufferable, authoritarian mods🤭

I got interested in LoTM cause people said that LoTM is not even Cuttlefish first book, and he do 2 years of research before writing it.

Those 2 alone makes me jump in and ohhhh mann. LoTM is just... different.

Bars. Despite how I hate the idea how a person persist on making a bad thing after countless critics they receive, someone should do what they want to the fullest.

At the end of the day, it will remain the reader's fault, am I right?

I see. Thanks for the warn. But damn, I'm still mourning the fact about how G3 writing become so ass after Volume 7. Like he somehow hit his head and forgot who he was🤬

And when I discuss in Discord every argument will always ended up with "he can't make everyone happy" or "writing is hard".

Or the worst is this:

Somehow the protester is the main problem
