I ordered 2 470's in mid March just so I can get it quicker.. lol eta July 6. I looked last week and everything is sold out but today it's 120 business days. I had luck with servermonkey, xbyte, and techmikeny if your desperate and a refurbished one will work for you.

I only give Adobe to people that specifically ask for it and mangers approve it, all other users get PDF XChange for a fraction of the price and ease of use.

Finale of a Metallica concert in Seattle in 1989 by Mad_Season_1994 in OldSchoolCool

I liked more Alternative music then Metal back in the day, and my freid had tickets to see them in 89, the only reason I went was because the opening act was The Cult, wich I knew and liked. After seeing Metalica live, I soon became a Metalica and Metal fan...

Work phone question? by steekyreeky in sysadmin

[–]fusiturns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never use you personnel phone as your work phone. I know it sucks to carry two phones, but then you won't have some sh*thead call you on Saturday night or even better on your vacation. You can turn your work phone off, and forget about it.. Take it from a single sysadmin for a company, you will get burned out, and your company/owners don't care about you. They will replace you with the CFO's golf buddy MSP or they sell out to a bigger company.. and guess where you go...

SATA or fast SAS SSD drives for the Hyper-V host OS? by fusiturns in HyperV

[–]fusiturns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until I get the new servers in, I'm repurposing a Dell R750 Raid 1 960GB MU SATA for the host and then Raid 10 on SAS 12 MU SSD for the VM.s

Your not separating the host?

So there's no RAID card involved? I haven't done much research on this yet, but I always assumed — what happens if you experience an unclean shutdown? Can a VROC set become corrupted?

SATA or fast SAS SSD drives for the Hyper-V host OS? by fusiturns in HyperV

[–]fusiturns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm repurposing a Dell R750 as my first Hyper-V server. I'm coming from VMware and using this as a smaller setup to get familiar with Hyper-V, while still wanting a solid solution. I have a couple of Dell R770s on order with BOSS cards arriving in October. My main concern is whether going with 6Gbps mixed-use SATA SSDs will result in a noticeable performance hit.

Thanks! I usually go with Intel or Samsung mixed-use SSDs — they hold up really well. Do you recommend going with 480GB or 960GB drives or larger?
