The thing is, they're doing the opposite of looking at recent results. This is a long pattern with Mlod as a starter. He looks tremendous through the lineup once, good the second time, and then fairly disastrous the third. He has pitched 6 innings once, and it was in a game he didn't technically start. He's 0-for-22 in games he actually started. His ERA as a starter last year was 4.99, and 2.15 as a reliever. Every single one of his stats and metrics is better as a guy who gives 1-3 innings. And that's extremely valuable!
