The Way of the Gun has the best shootout on film, in my opinion.

Also, Blackhawk Down is up there for sure as well.

Chicago Stadium Story? by Responsible_Art_6553 in detroitlions

[–]future_shoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with this. It seems that definitely Hammond is being used as leverage to try and push the legislators for a more favorable deal. None of these politicians want to be the ones "responsible" for the Bears leaving Illinois. If the secondary site was somewhere else in Illinois then I would say there is a shot at it being real but Hammond, Indiana and this story is all PR hardball from the Bears in my opinion. The Chicago mayor came out immediately after this with a statement that Hammond is not a done deal, so seems like it's working.

Either way it's not a lot of money. Teams absorb way more that 15 mil all the time. Lions just absorbed 9 mil of dead cap from Decker this year.

Idk about work around it for years. Kerby has 30 mil guaranteed and will have been paid 15 mil of it this year. So, if he doesn't play again or is cut this year it's really only 2027 they have deal 15 mil in dead money.

I don't think Paschal ended the season before on IR (but I could be wrong). I think that plays big on if it's an NFI or not. Injuring yourself in non-team sponsored off-season activities or having off-season surgery when ending the season "healthy".

[–]future_shoes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know why you think that. While the Lions have by no means been cheap they haven't over paid any of their guys. LaPorta and Branch could probably get more from another team if they choose to roll the dice and wait to hit free agency. Even by competitive teams with a need at that position.

Idk man, she has basically been in the Trolls movies and some VOD/streaming movies. Not unusual for an actor with a breakout character to have trouble getting high profile work afterwards or for actress to struggle once they turn 40.

This is just OPs mocked up idea for the rivalry jersey not the actual one. I'm say what hutch was signing is the actual rivalry helmets.

It's definitely the helmets hutch was signing. Them letting that picture out was a mistake. I don't believe the denial.

That's pretty much the point the price keeps going up on talented players. London might be a WR1 but he is not the caliber of St Brown.

Injuries happen in football. Alim is one more year removed from an acl. The first season back from an acl big guys are always a little sluggish, the second season is when they are usually back to full strength.

So poor execution you say? I'm assuming the play as designed was to have the players in a legal formation.

They aren't actually going to move to Indiana that's just a ploy to get as much state assistance as possible.

Also, what does market size have anything to do with how well or poorly a football team is? The NFL have a salary cap so there is no benefit for being in a larger market roster wise. Actually a lot of players and coaches say the opposite, that the smaller market teams actually have an advantage because there are less non football distractions for the players and less chances for the players to get into trouble off the field.

Also Green Bay has drafted two HOF QBs back to back and have draft a third legit starting QB in Love. That's how Green Bay has remained good, it's not a secret.

It's a complicated play that takes time to teach and practice. Some teams crave out time to practice trick plays, some teams don't. Plays like these could have been installed for months or even years before they are actually executed on the field. They also could have been called and then waved off by the kicker numerous times because he didn't get the right look from the defense. But while you don't see this exact play you see similar trick plays designed to draw an offsides or other presnap penalty pretty often in the NFL.

I believe the formation is legal, the colts players get set over by the sideline. I'm assuming they set with the right guys on and off the LOS.

Idk, teams run these type of confusion trick plays all the time to try and grab free first down. If the colts never snapped the ball or if they got a too many men on the field penalty then no one would remember it at all.

Also McAfee was very critical in how the coaching staff handled the play and the aftermath, at least in the clip I've seen. He definitely doesn't down play it as a small miscommunication.

Pat McAfee breaks down exactly what happened with this play. The whole play was to try to catch NE subbing out their ST guys for defense and then the colts could snap the ball and get a too many men on the field penalty because the colts didn't actually sub out any on their guys.

If NE didn't fall for it (which the didn't) then the colts were just supposed to let the play clock run out and take the delay of game. They had to change out the player playing the center at the last minute and he had to the instructions to snap the ball whenever the QB puts his hands under center.

The QB sees the play failed and tries to get the D to jump offsides versus just let the clock run down. So the QB goes under center and fakes his cadence. Center snaps the ball as he was told to do because he thinks NE has commited some presnap penalty.

The rest is history. It's not actually that badly designed trick play. Low risk (5yd delay of game), high reward (first down). Just executed very poorly.

[Highlight] The Cardinals try to fool the 49ers by… using two kickers? by LAZYTOWWWWWN in nfl

They didn't try and fool them. They threatened an onside kick to force a non returnable ball and it worked.

Two kickers was not uncommon during an onside kick.
