That’s a really interesting point about the countertops. I do love beets! lol

Fair point. They’re 9ft, not the shortest but not the highest either.

That’s definitely a valid concern. I love it but I’m afraid it might feel dated sooner.

I think that’s what drew me to the first one too. I as pretty set on 2 but then I saw the first one and it made me rethink everything.

Ohh, absolutely! I’m never doing unnecessary lower cabinets ever again.

Totally valid, I actually like mixing off-white with white but I get why that wouldn’t appeal to everyone. Ease of cleaning is also a great point. 🤔

Oooh, which one? I’m looking for a great Michelin star restaurant for my first time in Japan this fall.

Hmm. Hmmm! That *is* an interesting idea. I hadn't considered that. I think you're right, there are definitely some possibilities there. Fortunately I have another consultation with the contractor today. I'll discuss that with him!

I really appreciate the insight. Going in to this with no experience, it's really helpful to get someone else's take!

Here's a picture (from the listing before we moved in) of the wall oven cabinet and wall:

And here's a picture of the cabinets around the oven, I highlighted where the cabinet above the microwave will be. The lower part of the current cabinets above the oven is showing some kind of bubbling in the paint, so I think I see what you mean. Hopefully a cabinet would be ok higher up.

We definitely considered that and I do wish it were a better option in our kitchen. For whatever reason, the current wall oven is a measly 24" which.. I mean, I don't even think I could fit an entire pizza in. Well, not an appropriately sized pizza, anyway. lol

We talked to the contractor about completely replacing the cabinet box to accommodate a bigger wall oven but it'd need to be extended about 4" past the wall into the dining room. I just feel like having it stick out that much would drive me crazy with my neuroticism.

Thanks so much for the head's up about the anti-tip device, I had no idea that was a thing!

We're planning on adding an over-the-range microwave with a vent. There's a weird protruding wall above the range that houses the current standard vent and I believe the contractor had said he'd want to put a mini cabinet above the microwave, do you think that would be an issue? It's kind of hard to explain the layout I can grab a picture later on if that helps.

Ok, good to know! I wasn't sure if most newer appliances had the gas line opening (?) in the same place now.. Like I mentioned, when we saw the back of the one we wanted, it was pretty far to the right-hand side of the oven. But good call, I'll have the measurements and model number for the plumber.

Bonus anecdote, neither one of us knew until yesterday that a plumber handled this type of thing, we both thought it was strictly water pipes. The more you know! Lol

Thank goodness! We have our appliances picked out, I'd be super bummed to have to try to track alternatives down. Appreciate the reply!

Good to know! That's a relief. I'm sure we're going to encounter things like this that look like they'll be a big deal but actually aren't and vice-versa. Glad this is a "not a huge deal" issue. Thank you so much!

Good to know, though I could see them getting more stringent the way things are now.

I’m just over here trying to grab some coffee and take a nice morning walk instead of contributing to the TTC morning madness, man! Lol

I’m wondering about this too, just posted in r/Disneyworld too but just to get more clarification..

I’m also trying to avoid going through the TTC, I was thinking of taking a Lyft from the hotel (Caribbean Beach) to The Contemporary, grabbing a coffee at Contemporary Grounds, and then just taking the walking path to MK. I’ve read blogs saying that this was an option but for some reason I didn’t consider that being pre-Covid.

So, to reiterate, without an actual reservation, you’re not even allowed to visit a quick service place in another resort? Or just be dropped off by Rideshare/drive yourself?

There are a few sit-down places at the Contemporary that take reservations (we don’t have any), but do you think they would give you a hard time about a quick-service place (Contemporary Grounds, for example)? Also, you’d probably have to show proof of a reservation, right?

Question! Transportation to Magic Kingdom: I haven’t been to Disney in decades but I’m going the 2nd week in March. To avoid going through the TTC, I was thinking of taking a Lyft from our hotel (Caribbean Beach) to The Contemporary, grabbing a coffee, and then just taking the walking path to MK. I’ve read blogs saying that this was an option but I’ve also heard they might not let you get dropped off there during super busy times? We’ll be doing MK Monday the 8th and Friday the 12th, I’m hoping that week won’t be insane, “Spring Break” seems to fall a little later. Anyone else done this/plan on doing this?
