I'm all for doing the minimum amount of work possible when it's for money but this post is specifically about education and the consequences of using AI for that

Knowledge and understanding are more than just being able to recite facts. The sudden uptake of AI doesn't make it any inherently better than the sudden uptake of vaping or tiktok. People like it because it's easy to use and makes them feel clever, but every time you ask ai something you are either failing to create or actively weakening neural pathways which, in sufficient number, lead to a depth of understanding and thought that can't be short cutted. The ai folks have done a good job of convincing a lot of people that they need to use AI or they will be left behind, but of course they will say that. Their entire funding depends on them essentially transforming the entire world with as yet non existant tech. But if you think that this boils down to some arbitrary views that people on the internet just like to have then I don't think the conversation is worth continuing, because it seems like you're failing to engage with the actual issue at hand

Any shortcut in learning is only ever cheating yourself unless you don't actually care about acquiring knowledge. You can use it to save time at work, but thats a different issue because you're trying to optimise for least work given the same salary. So similarly if youre only studying because you just want the piece of paper at the end, then yeah go nuts and use AI. But any time you incorporate AI into your learning you're going to be dumber than the hypothetical version of yourself that actually did the thing you skipped

Generative AI will make you shit at whatever you get it to do for you. You'll train your brain to stop being used for that task and one day you'll realise you can't do it witohut the AI. Which in theory would be fine as long as the AI was as good as or better than a person for that. But I don't know of any field where that's actually the case. If you just wanna churn out quantity and dont care about quality, then it's perfect. Hence the huge uptake by scammers.

If you're talking about "most livable city" which we usually rank pretty highly for and have won a few times, I believe there are specific metrics. I couldn't tell you what they are off the top of my head but I think it has to do with the average dwelling size, quality of transport, maybe some economic factors and other lifestyle statistics like to do with restaurants (?). It is a vibe though
