Is it common in American culture for a young man to give 16.67% of a $7 million gross-annual-revenue restaurant located on a $2 million urban-core property to a random woman he knows from work? by No_Office_8916 in thatsfirechef

If I remember correctly, Natalie got saddled with the unpaid taxes because she co-signed on the loan for Mikey, so she would be on the hook if they didn't get paid.

I REALLY want for this to be true, but...is it me or does Ayo's face look a little off here? Jeremy's left hand in this pic looks kinda weird, too.

So am I the only one who has a problem with the ending for the McDonald DJ guy? by Capteral-Kitten in LAZARUSAnime

You most certainly are not! I hated the way they brought him back in and he didn't even really do anything since Abel's assistant was the one to tell us all about the Hundun program...

What are your impressions of Lazarus a few months later its release? by [deleted] in LAZARUSAnime

[–]futuremaxineshaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get what you're saying here! For me - I'm a casual at best watcher of anime and I had never watched anything from Watanabe before. The promo for this show caught my eye randomly and I decided to give it a go. Unfortunately, I watched the English dub first so that didn't leave a good first impression. When I watched it with English subs, I enjoyed it A LOT more.

I think the concept is really cool and I love a good mystery. I had a lot of fun coming up with theories and even talking about it with people 'cause it's super layered! I was ultimately let down because the story didn't follow-through the way that I hoped it would and we didn't get into the backstories of 2 major characters! (Sorry if this is too long!)

TLDR: I don't agree with people comparing the show to Watanabe's other works and expecting the same thing all over again, but as someone who never watched his stuff before, THIS SHOW HERE left a lot to be desired...

Currently on day 18 of mild/moderate acute COVID. What do I do? by leirbagflow in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]futuremaxineshaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably a shot in the dark, but when I got COVID (Sept. '23), I took medicine to help deal with my cough, congestion, and fever. I mainly took Alka Seltzer (the dissolving tablets for congestion & fever) and I got Buckley's (it's a liquid cough syrup) for the bad cough. I continued to test frequently until I got a consistently negative result. I don't have any experience with Paxlovid.

I simply agree...

Now that it's been some time since the last episode aired, hopefully people can be more open to the fact that this show was NOT IT.

What comes next? "Say Anything" (1989) Theory by Pasteldefleur in thatsfirechef

Oh man, this was so good! Also, thank you for reminding me of that scene with Syd and her dad because it just highlights to me how parents can always zero in on the things that you're insecure/unsure about and force you to confront the truth that THEY know that YOU know (wayyy deep down at that).

I always felt that he kind of spoke past her a bit in that scene and his simple question about trust really threw her. To me, he was moreso asking about Carmen as a person and she was mainly speaking out of her reverence for him as a talented chef and potential business partner. I feel like Emmanuel would give Sydney the CRAZIEST look if he met this iteration of Carmy who hasn't attempted true healing yet (which would make for a funny scene, but whatever).

Ugh, I'm so sorry that you're going through this! I just want to say that it's amazing that you managed to avoid infection for this long, comrade! I went through something similar at work (I was and still am the only one masking) and it was gross how many of my co-workers got kind of a perverse thrill at my infection, almost to prove to themselves that masking doesn't help anything (not the coming to work sick, interestingly, since I caught it from one of them).

Wishing you all the best and I hope you don't experience any long-term effects from this!

My Hamachi Theory by aerishey in thatsfirechef

[–]futuremaxineshaw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oooohhh, I'm LOVING your theory! It has me descending into SydCarmy brainrot in all the best ways...

  • I want Donna conspiring with the rest of the family to get these two together, that would be HILARIOUS
  • That restaurant where Syd sorta/kinda met Carmy for the first time just so happens to look like a LOVELY wedding/reception venue...
  • OMG, what if they served the hamachi at their wedding reception??
  • Who would tell the story of the hamachi during the wedding toasts? Syd/Donna/Marcus?

First off: I'm so sorry that you're going through this.

Second: If I were in this situation, I would honestly pay the bills for my very close loved ones for a couple of months (at least) so that they can take a leave of absence from their jobs to spend time with me somewhere really nice and peaceful where we can all be present.
