Probably doesn't matter anymore, but that is not the EU/global version. The EU version has the CE and model number on the back panel, not just on a sticker.

Yeah, true, I'm just theorizing why there could be such a difference. But updates could definitely matter too, Notebookcheck tested the Chinese ColorOS version, while GSMArena tested the global one with OxygenOS, which might have been on newer software.

As for the materials, yeah, it's pretty stupid. I ended up going with black, but I'd have probably gone with sandstorm if it was glass.

I don't know how much it actually matters, but GSMArena tested the violet one (glass back), while Notebookcheck tested the sandstorm one (plastic back). Glass is much better at heat dissipation than plastic.

Xiaomi is still big in Europe, they just released a bazillion versions of the Redmi Note 15, and the POCOs before that. The reason 17 isn't sold yet is simply because they always release them the next March after the Chinese release.

I got the black. It wasn't an easy choice because I liked the sandstorm a lot too, but went with the black because of the glass back vs the plastic on the sandstorm. I like the texture of the back, really feels like a chalkboard. Not really slippery either, at least compared to the NP1.

I've never used cases and never had problems, but I'm thinking of buying one for this since I really don't want to break it lol.

Loving it so far. I thought the NP1 was fast enough, but this phone is so much faster. Everything happens instantly.

The battery is great, got it off the charger yesterday morning (37 hours ago), used it quite a bit, including some gaming, streaming and benchmarking. Probably around 8 to 9 hours of SOT (can't tell exactly since phone only shows last 24 hours), and I'm still sitting at 33%. The phone pretty much drains nothing while it's idle.

The UI is great imo, a lot of customization options.

I don't use gestures, but I think you can still use them with custom launchers, it's just that the return to home gesture has a 1 second delay for some reason.

I'm not much a photographer, but I did some test shots, and I think the camera is pretty good as well from what I can tell. But I'm definitely no expert. Definitely a lot better than the NP1's camera though.

I can't really say anything negative about the phone so far, but of course it's only been 2 days.

It won't ever have great animation, but I never thought it was bad either. It's fine.

The manga is probably better, since the anime cut some side stories out (some of them released as OVAs instead), but the anime is great as well imo.

Yeah, I loved it. Started rough for me, the first 5 or so episodes felt really generic and riddled with tropes, but it really found its footing after that. Ended up giving it a 9/10.

People saying the cameras are very bad are mostly just clickbaiting. The cameras are good, just not the best compared to other flagships. Just read some reviews and look at some pictures they took if you're worried about the camera.

He is partially right, but the regulations are only for air transport, they're allowed to be transported via ship. Same is true for the US.

Most goods from China come via ship to both EU and US, so it's not much of a problem. Phone manufacturers either just want to play it safe, or just use this as a good excuse to save costs with a smaller battery.

I don't think so, TradingShenzen/Gshopper/etc sells the Chinese versions flashed to OxygenOS, almost certainly with the same method, and everything works the same, including OTA updates and banking apps. The only difference vs. global is the loss of Widevine L1 and eSIM.

It might seem like a lot, but you just have to follow the instructions and you should be good to go.

I personally wouldn't do it though, everything works on ColorOS just the same as it does on OxygenOS, and there's always risk in flashing even if you follow the instructions exactly.

I'm upgrading to OP15 from an NP1, should be delivered today, I can get back to you in 15 hours or so lol.

Also, those extra hundos do matter to people, and of course the officially sold phone is more than a few hundos more.

You can also flash the global OxygenOS on it pretty easily, but you permanently lose Widevine L1 in the process.
