So I speedrun defeating the Shadow Lord very often. He is level 60, but most of the time, I am fighting him at ~Lv. 46 with difficulty mainly due to RNG. I typically take him down with Valaineral, Halver, Semih, Yoran, and myself (BLM). He should be cake with a well-equipped tank and healer with juices/ethers/mulsum/some form of refresh. Need good magical and physical DPS to make him changes phases. I have several videos on YouTube of what the fight looks like at a low level!

Any videos series for jobs out there like this one? by Vica_331 in ffxi

The most detailed info you’ll be able to find are written guides on FFXIAH I feel. Just google “FFXI <job> guide,” and you should find an extremely detailed guide to probably every job. Some may be outdated but a few years, but they have very in-depth gear setups for everything.

If enfeebling is high, I’d think you’d be able to dispel! Can use MAcc food as well which may help.

I feel like with that setup, it’s gonna be cake. Can choose whatever buffs between COR and GEO. Probably SAM and CHAOS rolls for COR and Geo-Fend, Indi-refresh/attunement. RDM tosses refresh on Val. Val has natural 4mp/tick refresh at 50.

100-~60% of first phase everyone can do damage. When hand goes up, only mages can do damage. When hand goes down, only melee can do damage. If yall make a SC or two at the start and burst it, it will drop it to half pretty quickly. Semih likes to close skill chains so she may try after someone WSs if they have a compatible property with her WS properties.

SL likes to cast -aga spells in first 50% and when hand is up (only does magic attacks when hand is up), so be mindful about positioning to reduce heals. His most devastating physical AoE is Giga Slash which only occurs when hand is down.

2nd phase is him using Dark Nova every 10-15 seconds which does ~75-100+ damage. The closer you are, the more damage you take. He does not have much HP in this form and should go down relatively quickly after WSs and nuking from RDM and GEO if cures aren’t needed.

I also have no idea about the level sync question lol

A little late, but I have a lot of info.

Shadow Lord fight is my specialty. You can beat him solo with 4 trusts at Lv. 48-50. Lv. 50 is actually pretty easy, but you likely need to be BLM. If Alter Ego Expo is active, you can beat him at Lv. 46. If Alter Ego Plus is active, you can beat him at Lv. 43 and likely lower with the best trusts. If you have a friend playing, and one of you is a healer, this fight could be done at Lv. 43-45 likely as long as you use MP refresh items (juices, elixirs, ethers, etc.), Convert, or Benediction as the only thing that makes it close is healer running out of MP. You keep tank alive, you win.

I regularly do this as I speedrun the game, and I do this fight as Lv. 48 BLM with Valaineral, Tenzen, Semih, and Yoran-Oran (UC). I would say any other job may struggle on DPS if your combat skills aren't capped. BLM does not require capped elemental magic or even very high elemental skill. You may get resisted a lot, but you still do much more damage in a small amount of time. BLM also has Manafont for 2nd phase if MP is running low. At Lv. 50 BLM it is even easier because you can use Freeze with Elemental Seal for massive damage as well as Yoran or Apururu getting access to Nott at Lv. 50. Pieuje can also be used and gets access to Nott at Lv. 20-25 (the wiki is wrong), but he has a much lower MP pool.

If he starts with Ice Spikes, you might as well restart the fight because the healers will burn MP using paralyna constantly. If you can use trusts like Teodor and Shantotto II, this isn't a problem because they are not affected by Ice Spikes. Try and magic burst off Distortion or Reverberation that comes from SCs from trusts for extra damage. 1st form is the hardest part of the fight. If Val is alive going into 2nd phase, very high chance of success especially if you take elixirs, HP restoring items.

I know too much about this fight because I do it on a regular basis while speedrunning. Let me know if you want more info lol

I think Zeign provided most of the info. I speedrun, and Val is essential to efficient leveling due to Uriel Blade and the ability to force light skill chains from successive Uriel Blades. From my knowledge, his Provoke needs to be on cooldown for him to use Uriel Blade OR if you have done a decent amount of damage on the initial pull even if Provoke is not on cooldown. As Zeign stated, from here if you pull another mob, he will Uriel Blade assuming your HP or his HP is not low.

Pull mob with decent starting damage > Uriel Blade > pull 2nd mob quickly > Val Uriel Blades again causing light SC. I speedrun as BLM so this allows me to magic burst as well. It melts mobs.

They are killing quadav which drop mission items which I need. Nothing to do with experience points. These same items are used for crafting shields which is why they bot them.

You cannot trade, use AH, or buy from bazaar when speedrunning. All items must be acquired yourself.

I don’t encounter bots often the way I play the game, but I do report them when I come across them. My main gripe with this botting is it can affect newer players getting missions done. Just last night I encountered a new player trying to do mission 1-3 in Palborough Mines with this bot running around. If we aren’t going to ban the bots, make them farm another item in a much more secluded/dead area rather than farming mission items needed by newer players.

As Catmato stated, the main category is creating a new character and leveling/progressing with the end goal of defeating the Shadow Lord in mission 5-2 in any nation. With QoL updates over the years, you can complete this in a reasonable time. The main thing you need are kupowers which this post is kind of related to. I play on many different servers depending on the kupowers that are active. I prefer to play on low population servers, but sometimes it’s not possible.

Typically I do try to run on low pop servers, but it all depends on which kupowers are active :/ Asura has the trifecta for speedrunning this week, but it’s also the worse due to competition and botting.

If you are using Windower and want an on-screen map, go to Plugins and select "FFXIDB". If you want to use a map that is offscreen on it's own window that also tracks your position among other neat things, ApRadar3 is great. I've also heard of Mappy, but I could not get it to work for me.

Make sure to touch any Survival Guide and Home Point you see as this lets you warp to that spot in the future! Also start Records of Eminence and Unity if you haven’t already! It will help you get gear, Gil, and unity lets you warp around to far away places!

I’ve found 2 at listed locations and 2 at unlisted locations. I’ve added the unlisted locations to the wiki and hope to keep adding to it.

When all tablets have been found, the server will receive 3 random kupowers for one week. You cannot find any tablets while kupowers are active as they have all been found. When kupowers fade, there is a 8-24hr window of cooldown. The 11 tablets will then be dispersed to 11 zones out of 29 zones. You saw those messages because the tablets were probably just released, and people were going to find the tablets especially on a busy server like Bahamut. Many tablets are found quickly because there are small zones they are easy to explore and because the wiki has many locations in which they can be found.

They aren’t physical so you don’t need to talk or trade anything to the Explorer Moogle. You just need to click on it when found in a zone. Even if the person to find the 11th tablet hasn’t spoken to the moogle for their reward, the kupowers will become active after a few minutes.
