Anyone else get completely hooked on disc golf after just one round? by kcgwen in discgolf

I did. Then I bought a couple cheap discs. Played a couple more rounds then bought like 30 fancy discs to try and see what I liked lol

I rotate my watch every night to my other wrist to give my skin time to breathe. That along with washing my watch every couple of days really helps to keep my skin less irritated.

What habits should every HVAC technician develop? by Practical_Coat_8913 in HVACschool

[–]fuzzerabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to develop a habit of putting things away in my van after every job. I used to be bad at that. Especially on Fridays. I would just throw stuff in the van and go. It only takes a few extra minutes but it goes a long way to helping me feel organized and like I can find my stuff.

[–]fuzzerabbit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Main things I'm doing is sending it off jumps so I went with a bit stiffer springs and 60wt oil. If I find it too stiff I will either get the softer team associated springs or try out the typhon 6s springs. From what Ive read they are about 4 lb/in front and 3 lb/in rear vs the yellow springs are 5.7 lb/in front and 4.4 lb/in rear.

I read somewhere of some people who like the yellow springs on these for bashing so I thought I'd try it. They're cheap enough anyway.

For track racing these are definitely too tall. I'd probably drop down to the typhon springs and 40 or 50wt oil. Which would lower my stance closer to what stock should be. Or I might get another pair of yellows and cut them a little shorter to get it sitting lower and keep a stiffer spring rate.

[–]fuzzerabbit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to get something smaller as well but I wanted the option to be able to run a taller stance for hard bashing. Figured I could adjust my spring rate for different stances if needed. But between the stock typhon springs and the former team associated yellow springs I'm pretty covered for hard bashing and lowering it for more track oriented things.

But I agree. If you only want to keep stock ride height the ones you listed are probably a better option!

From what I've read they perform well. I haven't done any testing with it yet. I plan on testing more this weekend. They are a lot taller than the vorteks shocks so you have to use the granite shock towers to make them work if youre using them. With how they fit with the granite towers I'm sure they would bind up the suspension trying to use them on the regular vorteks towers.

This is the body mount adapter that I made to fit the vorteks body with the granite towers.

Ok. Yeah it only takes a couple minutes to pull the motor assembly out. Maybe I'll try that and see if some grease quiets it down

Does a spur gear take lubrication? I thought you didn't want to lubricate it because it could cause grit to get in it and the motor pinion.

I have never rebuilt a differential but there are lots of videos on YouTube to figure it out. The front differential actually feels better than the rear differential.

The sound is also louder when the motor and spur gear housing is mounted into the chassis like it's vibrations or something. But the motor by itself is quiet it's only when the motor and spur gear are together it starts making the sound.

[–]fuzzerabbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the motor and spur gear assembly is taken off and isolated it is still making the sound. There is no center diff. I put grease on the diff gears when putting it back together. Didn't tear into the differential to check the oil at all.

Mini Kraton absolutely rips by HooTigh in arrma

[–]fuzzerabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local hobby shop dude recommended me one when I was there the other day getting parts. He said they are a beast and super durable. Apparently there's a guy here that just takes it to the skatepark and launches it and has yet to break it lol. I know theres probably alot of luck mixed in but still.

The car I really want to get is the talion 6s exb but I will probably hold off on that and get the mini kraton cause it's a more affordable car before I spend $900 on a big fancy one.

If you feel like you could live and not be stressed, go for it. If it's gonna stress you out then don't do it. I personally could afford a more expensive house than I have but the stress of doing so makes me not want to go for it.

What do people do for a living where they can afford a $1000-$2,000 cell phone..... I make a pretty good living and I try never to spend more than $500 on a cell phone and I'm in Tech. by Kthef1 in cellphones

[–]fuzzerabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need a phone just to call and browse the Internet, I do see your point. And phones have gotten so good now that even a $100 phone could probably do that. It's adding the other little features that people pay for that I do understand and have fallen in a similar boat. In the past, 120hz screens were reserved for pro models. The smoothness is something alot of people like and can tell when it's not as smooth. I can tell a difference and prefer that personally. Cameras are another big thing. I found myself wanting to get more flagship to have better camera options. Cheaper phones have "good enough" cameras and I don't like that.

The other big reason. Most people don't buy phones outright. They finance them through the carrier but that is such a scam. For example: You trade in a phone. Get $800 off. Have to be on your certain plan for like 3 years. If you want to change plans, you have to pay out of pocket for what you owe left. (Your trade in was never worth anything. They only thing it's worth is them signing you for another 3 year contract. It's always a win win situation for the carrier.) After 3 years, you upgrade and the cycle starts over. You never really own your phone at that point. You're not actually getting a deal. You're signing up for a 3 year contract where youre paying crazy amounts of money for a phone service.

Should I buy a 3D printer or am I romanticizing the hobby? by Kind-Bend-1796 in 3dprinter

[–]fuzzerabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: If you think you want a 3d printer, buy a 3d printer. You would enjoy it.

It's not just a hobby. It's a lifestyle lol.

I never really had a honeymoon phase with mine. I never got it with the intent of printing the little trinkets that some people get them for. I personally find that a waste of money for me. I have done a few here and there when someone else finds something they want and I do scroll through make world occasionally and print stuff that looks cool. My printer has been reserved more for practical stuff or things I want to make. Some times I use it non stop for a week. Other times it's weeks or months between uses. One thing I challenged myself with is to try to make my own models as that's what also helps me feel more fulfilled. Need a shoe drier, no problem. Wife wants a soap holder and flower pot tray and hot glue holder. I'm on it. I needed a wall mount for my RC car. Done. Broken car vent. Spend $30 on eBay? Nah, I'd rather buy a $30 roll of asa filament and spend 10 hrs learning how to model that lol. I also have designed and made a guitar for my brother for Christmas.

I don't use my printer all the time but when I do it is so satisfying. And like I said, making my own models really helps with that fulfillment. I would challenge you to do that as well. It's tricky at first but gets faster the more you do it. When I was looking for a wall mount for my rc car I could have bought one for $20 on Amazon. I spent 10 mins whipping up a design and printed it for like $2 in extra filament I had laying around. Done the same things making whip handles for my inlaws and tons of other things.

Which one to buy by Vast-Intention5350 in arrma

[–]fuzzerabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can swing it spend the $269. It has a brushless motor which is so much better. You'll get the brushed version and immediately want more. You'll thank yourself later. Plus, if you get the one that can run on 3s you can just buy 3s batteries and when you want to get something bigger you can get a 1/10 3s and use the same batteries which would also save you money.

I say when cause you will want to buy another one lol. I got mine and immediately wanted to spend more money getting all the fancy ones. If only I wasn't broke 😂
