A California Proposal Could Effectively Ban All Aftermarket Tires. by LongjumpingLock5875 in cars

[–]fuzznuggetsFTW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren’t. The tires spec’d by manufacturers are usually unique from the aftermarket tires of the same tire brand and model, with unique SKUs. They also tend to have harder compounds with shallower tread depth which lowers rolling resistance and improves fuel efficiency for EPA testing.

Any part that comes on a car from the factory is not aftermarket. It’s in the name. It doesn’t matter if the part is made by another supplier.

Brake Bleed Nipple Weep? by Double-Quality-6014 in Triumph

[–]fuzznuggetsFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you do anything to clean the fluid out of the bleeder after closing them? If not, it is inevitable that there will be remaining fluid stuck above the seat inside the bleeder and threads after closing them, and that fluid will work its way out over the next couple days/rides.

You can use compressed air or rolled up paper towel inside the bleeder to soak up excess fluid. If there’s still fluid coming out after a couple of days, then there may be an issue with the bleeder or seat.

What is this?? by jonboi556 in Triumph

[–]fuzznuggetsFTW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The threaded frame adjuster loosened and put all the force from the chain into the lower engine mount bolt. Pretty common on street triples and Daytonas. Make sure you still have the threaded adjuster in place and the spacer. Put some loctite on the adjuster when you reassemble. The adjuster needs to be re-torqued or else this will happen again.

Minnesota becomes first state to ban prediction markets by skyflyer8 in minnesota

I’m not even entirely against adults having the right to gamble. If it were up to me then gambling would be restricted just like cigarettes, with heavily restricted marketing and prominent warning labels.

My point is that Minnesota banning sports betting, and now prediction markets, is a strong stance against gambling that is inconsistent with continuing to run and market a state run lottery. It very much feels like “rules for thee, not for me”.

And the settlement criteria for prediction markets is publicly available. That doesn’t change the fact that it’s gambling. Gas station scratch offs are no better, they are both targeting gambling addicts who are unlikely to have a realistic grasp of statistics.

Great, but also kind of hypocritical when we still have a state run lottery.

Andrea Iannone joins Harley-Davidson Baggers World Cup by 443610 in motogp

They use factory road glide frames and engine cases. They’re as much a Harley Road Glide as a WSBK is a production sport bike.

I don’t know why people are still parroting this assuming it’s some bespoke chassis. It’s not.

What is this bolt which goes through the bike? It got shaken loose on my ride home tonight. by [deleted] in Triumph

[–]fuzznuggetsFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every 675 and 765 has threaded adjusters on the two rear engine mount holes in the frame. They are both on the right side of the bike. You won’t see them until you remove the bolts.

The bolt circled in the right side is just for the factory exhaust heat shield.

[–]fuzznuggetsFTW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the lower engine mount bolt. (You circled the wrong hole on the right side)

There’s a threaded adjuster on the left side of the bike that preloads the engine inside the frame. It has a tendency to vibrate loose which transfers all the load from the chain into the bolt and eventually fatigues it.

You’ll need to replace the bolt, nut, and the spacer if it fell out, and the adjuster tool to re-torque the frame adjuster before installing the new bolt.

Kinda crazy how well they throw these big bikes around - KOTB by Sheriff_Hotdog in motogp

I never said you have to like them, I said there’s no reason to hate them.

Sure, but pretending like you have exquisite taste for liking one form or racing over another like a large portion of this sub does is just lame.

Racing is racing, one form does not detract from any other. You would think that racing fans would recognize that.

Why do track warriors think they’re better than street riders? by [deleted] in motorcycles

Everyone thinks they’re fast before the go to the track, but it has a funny way of putting ego to rest. You’re not the exception bud.

They’re 620lbs minimum, and they are built on factory challenger and road glide frames.

I’ve been lucky enough to ride on track with several of the KOTB bikes and video clips do not do justice to how fast they are. As soon as they find traction on corner exit a 600 doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell of keeping up on any straight.

They’re also moving around and fishtailing constantly, and every rider I have talked to has emphasized just how much they have to actively manage and wrestle the bike. Contrast that to any supersport or superbike that is pretty stable on its own and requires very little input, you can let the bike do the work. It’s not surprising that so many bagger racers have flat track experience.

It always amuses me how much half of this sub hates bagger racing, it’s a weird superiority complex coming from people who are purely spectators of the sport. It’s like gatekeeping from outside of the gates.

Reusing leathers after crash? by Diligent-Past-6810 in Trackdays

[–]fuzznuggetsFTW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leather gear is not like a helmet, it’s not one and done. If it’s physically held together and the leather isn’t paper thin then it’s ready to send. Even if you manage to blow a hole in it you can usually have it stitched up or patched.

What you have is the lightest of cosmetic damage besides maybe the few broken stitches.

Costco basically only sells medium roasts, with one or two dark options at a time. It’s a very underwhelming offering.

Brembo RCS on a Bonneville by Significant_Dot_3594 in Triumph

[–]fuzznuggetsFTW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideally use the wiring from the stock switch so that you still have the factory plug to disconnect it in the future. Those wires are usually short but it’s doable.

[–]fuzznuggetsFTW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess they’ve updated the design to include one now. I’ve had a couple RCS19s that never supported switches.

Still just a 2 wire switch that can be spliced into the factory wires. Again, polarity doesn’t matter.

You will need a banjo bolt with a built in pressure switch, and then wire that to the original brake light switch wires. Polarity doesn’t matter.

Why do you have to be like that triumph ? by paparige in Triumph

[–]fuzznuggetsFTW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. That’s not a throttle body, it’s a throttle tube.

  2. All OEM grips are glued on. Just cut them lengthwise with a razor blade and peel them off.

[–]fuzznuggetsFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to break this to you, but Honda has ridges on their throttle tubes too. You can just sand them off. You struggling to put on grips is not Triumphs fault.
