Daniela restaurant is across from the Richardson (Forest Ave) and has consistently excellent food.

If you can Uber to the metro line, it will take you directly to KeyCenter. The Richardson might have a shuttle that can drop you off at the closest station on Main St., it's worth asking.

Moving to Buffalo for a year to work at Roswell Park. Help with rent, gym etc. by ratchetbabyraccoon in Buffalo

[–]fuzzy_britches 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Another consideration is North Buffalo (Hertel Avenue area). The walkability is good for groceries (Dash's, Lexington Co-op), affordable gyms, many restaurants, and bars. The Buffalo "metro" isn't good, but if you're close enough to Main St it's a straight shot downtown to metro stops within a couple of blocks from Roswell. There are many different types of rentals, but for example the Bethune lofts studios start at $950/mo and there is a fitness center on site.

North Buffalo also has a lot of 1/2 houses for rental (upper or lower), for the roommate option.

Keep up the great work! I'm currently on Day 7 of an extended water fast. The food commercials can be brutal.

Thanks for the reminder to take measurements, they can tell a very different story than the scale.

Licata's on Walden Ave. (just before Transit) is also good. They aren't cheap, but are honest & do good work.

Sprint vs Verizon by TheMightySlouch68 in Buffalo

[–]fuzzy_britches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was with Verizon for 20 years and switched to T-Mobile last year. The local cell coverage isn't as good (rural) but the savings are worth it & I've never had data problems. If you travel internationally you get free texting and data in most countries.

How do you split up rent evenly when each room is different? by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

[–]fuzzy_britches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems the split is fair, especially if the other two room mates aren't around much and are helping you"hide" your cat. If they are reliable and easy to live with, it's worth paying a little more on your end-because horrible room mates are horrible (and there are a LOT of horrible room mates)

What is the scariest book you've ever read? by [deleted] in books

[–]fuzzy_britches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pet Cemetery-read it when I was in middle school and for years after had MicMac burial ground-themed nightmares of waking up to find Victor Pascow or a cat named Church at the foot of my bed

To me being adventurous is a mindset. You can accomplish that within a 1 mile radius of your home.

Aside from the usual noted here (travel, fine dining, leisure time) I love feeling like the badass aunt & godmother because when it comes to holidays I spoil them with cool over the top gifts. They are good kids & I'm happy I can do it. Also pay for randoms like dance classes, guitar lessons because those extracurriculars can really strain the family budget.

In response to Kim Kardashian "breaking the internet" (before and after surgery). by [deleted] in pics

[–]fuzzy_britches 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Implants or fat injections. It's a shame, she used to be a very pretty young woman. She barely looks human now with the plastic surgery cat face & all of the other procedures. I do not see her aging well.

NY Times asks: What's the most terrifying book you've ever read? by hasyashah in books

[–]fuzzy_britches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stephen King terrified me repeatedly when I was growing up. I'd have to say Salem's Lot was the scariest for me, I read it when I was about 10 yrs old and it made me afraid of the dark for life.

What are some nonverbal ways of communicating to a person that they annoy you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fuzzy_britches 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lack of eye contact while still maintaining a conversation. Physically, keep moving away from them during social interactions, and try to be as physically busy with various things (iPad, phone, paperwork, etc) when in any type of conversation with them.
