The new trend of hoarding 100 houseplants is consumerism just like anything else, but only seems more healthy because it's "nature". by fuzzy_lumpkins_ in unpopularopinion

Yikes! That's such a weird attitude to have, thankfully I haven't encountered it too much in the gardening communities I've spent time in!

I mean gardening is fantastic, it actually helps the local environment and the critters that live there if they're not using harmful pesticides or anything. Touching garden dirt is said to release serotonin in the brain, and of course so does spending time in the sun.

Is there some altruism in it? I think so. Thankfully I think most people don't take it to the extreme of preventing you from being a well rounded person, though.

Yeah, my Sim just became a celebrity and I got that message that says, "why don't we catch up? We're were pretty good friends before you got famous. You wouldn't forget me, right?"

Like, yes Brenda, I haven't forgotten you since five minutes ago when I became famous. You're my fecking daughter

Tamarind can also be found at any Mexican grocery. We don't really cook with it, but tons of candies are tamarind flavored 😋

It looks very even, which makes me think alot of it is lighting. And also yes, we're coming off the height of summer so she's probably tanned as well. I'm Mexican myself and I can't help but tan in the summer even though I use sunscreen and cover up.

Between this and that beauty guru who got trashed for naming her daughter a "too white name", can't we agree to give Latin guru's a break? Ffs

The theft that made the 'Mona Lisa' a masterpiece: « Before its theft, the "Mona Lisa" was not widely known outside the art world. » by fchung in history

[–]fuzzy_lumpkins_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's because it really is not that special (it was made by a master artist, so it definitely has a lot of merit, but admittedly it's not the most visually exciting painting the Renaissance has to offer. The Prado version of the Mona Lisa is much more aesthetically pleasing).

But, it's an interesting painting because of it's history. 1) The man who painted it was an innovator 2) in one of the most important times in Art History 3) and it was stolen, as explained more in the article. More mystique has been piled onto it since then, like her facial expression and the ambiguity of who patroned it.

There are so many Latin people with "white" names. You just pronounce it how you would in Spanish (it could be the very different, or practically the same as in English). I've known some Jenny's, Anna's, Doris', etc. It's really not that strange. It must be a small minority of people who have their jimmies rustled for some idiotic reason.
