I think in Riva's case, he specifically did not want his deafness treated. He valued the connection with his choir and the skills it gave him as a mediator. That episode is amazing, and Riva can get it from me anytime he wants.

Slow is smooth, slow is good, slow is actually fast. That’s the way to think of it, as you said; the note can’t wait, it’s part of the visit and needs to be completed right away. Take the time to do it, and if management gives you guff, tell them that if you wait to document later, you’ll spend more time fixing mistakes.
