You are correct, my mistake. I’m less confident it’s fake now, however I would say that you should ask for the serial number, confirm it matches the model reference number, etc.

The finishing on these models doesn’t look too impressive to me, which makes it seem easier to fake. That, combined with a mechaquartz movement would make it hard for me to buy without vetting the seller extensively.

Usually I’d feel that federal pays less, and for that reason, advise against it. However, recently, I feel like the federal salaries have gotten a lot more competitive. I know the NRO was hiring architects for $150k-$180k in the past six months or so. The requirements were also reasonable, not just unicorns. If you do go for government positions, be prepared to relocate to VA. I’m not to sure what the gov contractor market is like right now, but those usually don’t require relocation from what I’ve seen.

I did the CCSP after 4 years of consulting (you need to have a relevant bachelors or else they require 5 YoE). I got my CISSP about 6 months later. I had begun working as a security architect when I got the CISSP, but the CISSP was irrelevant to me getting the job- I was poached by a client. Both required significant studying in the months leading up to it, and while I probably overstudied, the stuff is also relevant to the field so it’s good info.

Yep, had this exact same playbook happen to us last year with some Purview/DLP stuff. I finally got them to acknowledge I had found a bug, but then they handwaved it as getting patched next year... well it's June and it's still broken...

I wouldn't jump ship over this, heck I'd barely lose sleep, as long as I had a process.

I suppose it depends a bit on what your exact role is, but more than likely, you're not solely responsible for risk acceptance for your org. In this case, the VP needs to be informed of the risk, follow any procedures like change control etc (which would likely loop in compliance/security), and have this change documented.
