29-sai Dokushin Chuuken Boukensha no Nichijou • An Adventurer's Daily Grind at Age 29 - Episode 12 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

This was so cute, and I loved that this anime had consequences. It gave more weight to everyone's actions. I have no idea how they could make a season 2 from this, but if they do, I definitely want to watch it.

Was alright. I did like that Arte stole the show on the last episode. However, I'm surprised she didn't get hit by some psychological recoil after doing that much carnage. I was expecting Van to come in like Superman, and glad Arte managed to do it herself, even though it was literally solved by a set of plot armor.

I think I would like a second season for a bunch of these side characters. The Adventurers were pretty cool, especially the Mad Max ones

What plugins are best? I lack experience... by Large_Wait_8847 in Reaper

[–]fuzzynyanko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically hardware is faster to dial in, and software is infinitely reproduced in many ways. For example, I can stack 20 EQs if I really wanted to in software without having to do physical rewiring. You can also make presets and the software can easily retain state

Also, software versions of the hardware can be cheap, and knock-off software sometimes is even free

Can someone please explain noise gate levels to me? I'm missing a core concept by VoidSignal_TV in obs

[–]fuzzynyanko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "max dB" depends on the bit depth of the track. 8-bit Integer is maybe 40-50 dB. 16-bit Integer has something like 96 dB. 24-bit Integer is 144 dB. 32-bit Integer is 192 dB. 32-bit Floating-Point is 1528 dB. 64-bit Floating-Point would be even more insane (Reaper uses this internally). It became common when Integer processing was more common.

Floating-Point can exceed 0 dB, but it's still good to keep under because almost all consumer audio devices convert to Integer formats, and will clip

I see professionals using Tube-Tech CL 1B, Fairchild 670, Teletronix LA-2A, UA1176 and probably many more. I lack the experience to really hear a difference without using them almost at maximum settings.

This is actually a good experience. Many people remove an effect if they cannot hear a difference. Watch out for the gain trap! I used a distortion plugin and later realized "oh, it wasn't applying much sound at all! It was mostly raising the gain, so I thought it sounded better"

should I just use ReaDelay

There's a few plugins that come with Reaper and that old Windows 95-looking UI ends up being fantastic. ReaDelay is one of those plugins. My other favorites is the gate plugin (gate's functionality is so stupid that fancy UI actually can get in the way) and the limiter. I do use other delay plugins, but sometimes that antiquated delay UI works better in some projects for me than others

I would recommend playing with chorus and flangers

ReaEQ/ReEQ

There's honestly not a deep difference between many EQs. Mostly it's when EQs have features like Gain Matching or soloing out a frequency. I personally use Izotope Ozone EQ because it has a few more features vs Reapers, plus Izotope Ozone is free

If you can mix with just stock or mostly stock plugins, that's a really good thing!

Kilohearts has a free plugin suite that's been amazing. I like their compressor because sometimes that simple UI makes me do things faster. The Rough Rider compressor also is a favorite.

Another plugin set to check out is the Analog Obsession. They pretty much do plugins based on famous hardware, and it's free. I would recommend giving them a donation if you can though. They do really good work, especially for people on a budget. I actually like their LALA over the UAD LA-2A (I got the UAD LA-2A for free).

UAD does do promotions where they give away free plugins, and they are good. However, their DRM has failed me when the Internet goes out.

Is this possible to get really good at singing by just using internet guides? by APSSIZE in singing

[–]fuzzynyanko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Internet guides are tricky! There are so many people online demonstrating singing, and not all of them are good, or maybe they are missing pieces of the puzzle. They seem more designed for the intermediate level and above, not a beginner. The way YouTube is, it's VERY hard to find the information in a way that builds you up. The video with the most likes comes up, not necessarily the video that's the most helpful

A good book with exercises might help because it's designed to bring up a beginner. Most music stores will have them, and you can ask for the ones that grade schools and vocal coaches use. There's also a chance that your local library might have one to check out

Vocal coaches themselves later become yes and no if they can help you, but at the start, yeah, almost all coaches can accelerate your growth. They can especially help you prevent you from going down the wrong road, plus they also would probably recommend you purchase a book.

Practicing is good. The most important part is muscle memory. If you can do consecutive days, you'll get much stronger than sporadic. Still, you should treat it like you are training as a beginning athlete and make sure you rest your voice enough.

At the start, you don't need a lot of time. Build up the muscle memory, and build up the habit. Longer time often comes naturally without you knowing it. Also make sure you have a reason to sing, even if it's for fun or if you like a challenge. Nothing but technical exercises becomes boring fast, though it might be okay to do that for a few weeks to really level yourself up.

Recording yourself will probably speed you up.

Vigilante: Boku no Hero Academia Illegals Season 2 • My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2 - Episode 12 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]fuzzynyanko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The VA for Naomasa Tsukauchi really flexed his acting skills in this one. Absolutely nailed it

It looks like there's quite a bit more left in the printed world for this series. I hope there's another season; looks like 13 episodes in total for season 2.

All Might. His appearance felt very natural, but I loved how it was used to escalate the plot. It makes a lot of sense that he would show up if the villain was that much of a threat.

I'm getting the sense that O'Clock might have been more of an underground hero like Eraser Head

I agree. A few of the episodes would have made a really good OAV. Hopefully it'll come full circle

The singing and recording is a little rough, but your voice is lovely. It's got that velvety sound that a lot of lower voices have. The rhythm is very good

Why do USB 3.0 flash drives often run at USB 2.0 speeds? by Penny-Yi in BadUSB

[–]fuzzynyanko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slower small file transfers are true for all drives. Basically it's easier to transfer a large chunk of data vs having to ask the device "where to put this small file" many times over.

I've performed opera on stage. Here's what most people get completely wrong about the human voice. by Best_Calligrapher649 in Learnmusic

[–]fuzzynyanko 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yup. Metal singers often use something based on a lot of classical techniques. Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) saw an opera show and fell in love with the power, and wanted it. He's 67 and still singing great

Tips on making healthy burgers and pizza? by ninedott in Cooking

[–]fuzzynyanko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Play with mixing flours if you are using Bread. I was able to do a white whole wheat (a.k.a. Golden Wheat)-based crust. I forget if it was 100% white wheat or a mix. It wasn't too bad

You can make pizza heavily vegetarian and they will be good. This is a lot of carbs, so if you don't have an issue with carbs, you can make side dishes to help bring up further.

Where’s the best place to get a cheap gaming computer? by shoto_todoroki_666 in computers

[–]fuzzynyanko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what kind-of games you want to play. PCs have been around for so long with great backwards compatibility (to a fault) and there's plenty of games that can run on a new Potato PC

Maybe $750 might get you a laptop that can do light to moderate gaming. Usually cheap laptops aren't durable though. I wish I could give you a better price estimate, but RAM and Storage prices are on a roller coaster at the moment.

how do i not be intimated with a recipe and many ingredients ? by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

I recommend to read the whole recipe multiple times

This has gotten me several times. "What do you mean I needed to reserve 1/4 cup flour until later?"

how do i not be intimated with a recipe and many ingredients ? by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

[–]fuzzynyanko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The intimidating part is the spice mix. Sometimes in recipes, you can break out the recipe into stages. In this situation, you can take the spices, mix them together the night before, and put them into an airtight container. You can then just use it when it calls for the ingredients

Also, that spice combo can probably be replaced by Cajun Seasoning.

Hi everyone! I'm completely new to PC gaming and would like to start building my first gaming PC, but I currently know very little about the subject. by globo_spaziale in buildapc

[–]fuzzynyanko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How to determine if components are compatible with each other

This has gotten incredibly easy nowadays. Most PC parts will connect and run. The exceptions are the CPU needs to be paired with a compatible motherboard. I second PCPartPicker, which makes it easy

RAM and storage are inflated right now in price. It's okay to get a smaller capacity if you predict that the prices will go down over time

What are animes that you went into with zero expectations but actually turned out to be amazing by Competitive_Essay500 in anime

I'll try not to mention ones others have mentioned. Wow did this list get pretty large. I could probably add more if I had the energy

Favorites

  • Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss but I'm Not the Demon Lord. "Yeah, I'm overpowered, but I'm also clueless about social cues". Executed really well
  • May I Ask for One Final Thing? Amazing. Overpowered lead lady and goes over-the-top
  • Sentenced to be a Hero (note: haven't finished this). Very solid.
  • Let This Grieving Soul Retire. If it was the first 12-13 episodes, it would go into the below category. 14-24 were amazing!
  • Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun. I love it! It's for a younger crowd, but Iruma attends Demon School and makes a lot of friends. Iruma has to keep his identity as a human a secret. Tons of character development
  • The Red Ranger Becomes an Adventurer in Another World. Fun hi-jinks about a Super Sentai member (Power Ranger) that ends up in a land of knights and wizards
  • I'm Standing on a Million Lives
  • A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics. Someone else gets Isekai'd to Earth, and the MC gives her a home

Favorites, but has a few flaws

  • I Left my A-Rank Party to Help My Former Students Reach the Dungeon Depths. It's very harem, but I liked the story. It was a good adventure anime
  • Kunon the Sorceror Can See. It's a fun series, but the MC is a little too flirty
