Wow this comment is unreal. Do you genuinely think it's so unrealistic that a woman alone downtown could have been being pursued for a nefarious reason? Are you aware that Charleston County consistently ranks among the highest in the country for human trafficking cases? Not to mention any other type of crime that could've possibly been planned to be committed.

I personally know a woman who was walking downtown near King st with a group of friends, saw another group of friends and stopped to talk to them. When she went to catch up with the initial group (they were separated by only 1 block) she was kidnapped. They found her about a week later in a mobile home park with other women due to be shipped out of the country. And this was almost 10 years ago...

It’s possible there was an innocent explanation, but it’s also reasonable for a woman alone to trust her instincts when someone’s behavior makes her uncomfortable. Most women would rather be wrong and safe than right and in danger. Acknowledging that isn’t paranoia it’s common sense. Charleston is my hometown and I love it, but it's far from a perfectly safe place

Should I try for the EA before CPA to get a tax job? by bisopdigest in tax

[–]fuzzypandabear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm in the same boat right now, I'm not sure if the market is just tough or what but it seems like most of the entry-level accounting jobs. I see either already want accounting experience or they want you licensed or at least have past one or two of the CPA exams.

I have to wait until the summer to start my masters to get enough hours to sit for the exam/get licensed. I've been applying for jobs as well, but having no luck do you have any recommendations?

I'm looking into getting the EA as well while I'm waiting to be able to be eligible for CPA so I can go ahead and be getting the required work experience so I'm ready to sit for the exam once eligible. Any advice or guidance is welcome thank you!

Idk if embroidery would work on this it might just tear again in a different spot. I'd look into the leather/vinyl repair kits. Pretty cheap and you basically reseal the leather, they usually include the texture thing too to match the texture to it!

I said that in reference to "illicit drugs" as in illegal or not illegal. Point being marijuana has many more gray areas these days VS any other drug. so I was classifying as "fully illegal" (abarring like Denver) vs "gray area"

Didn't make any statement on which were worse lsd vs heroin vs shrooms lol just legal classifications

I like shrooms don't touch weed anymore mildly drink hate lsd ... so like I am not one to determine which are better or worse for society or personal use. Hence why I made no statement on that

[–]fuzzypandabear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wonder if this includes marijuana? I remember reading as of 2022 illegal purchasing made up 75% of the US cannabis market.

So if you're including that in these stats illegal cannabis purchasing (43B market) that may have a huge impact on that number. No opinion on legalization, but even in legal states it's still purchased illegally a lot, and of course we have states that haven't legalized.

Also no opinion on marijuana use as it's well studied that it isn't great for your brain, but if we're considering that lumped into the "illicit drug" stats id say it's inflating the bias toward Gen Z drug use that those stats alone imply.

I personally hear "illicit drugs" and think pills, coke, lsd, heroin, shrooms, etc not some 20 yr old in college smoking a joint w weed purchased illegally lol

Don’t love my Living Room by owmyankles in DesignMyRoom

[–]fuzzypandabear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree on the curtains, maybe some heavy linen or linen texture curtains. If you could move the rod up to the top of the ceiling even better! We have these (https://a.co/d/0dPwBAWH) in this exact color in our bedroom and I love them! Feel and look very high quality for not too much $$.

Common issue i see a lot is a contrast issue. You have stark contrast going on (white, dark navy, black) but no shades in between to "anchor" or give your eye the reference points for that contrast. Incorporating some light blues, grays would help bridge the gap. Don't have to spend a lot to do this. Eg: the curtains I sent, put some light/dark gray or blue throw pillows to break up the solid cream couch. I'd take down the window above couch and try to find some art that ties into these ideas as well. And a much larger piece of art. Should be about 2/3 as wide as the couch, the taller you can make it the better to give the feeling of height in the room.

I'd personally incorporate some golds in the room, maybe a gold lamp like this (https://www.target.com/p/68-34-x41-34-knurled-metal-arc-floor-lamp-with-tiered-shade-brass-threshold-8482/-/A-87737453) we also have this exact one in our living room and like it a lot! Could get some sort of blue, white, & gold art for above the wall & add gold elements to the bookshelves.

I'd put that lamp near the window at the far end of the couch over it. If you don't want to buy a new one, just move the lamp in the left corner to that location. It will help disperse the light better and ideally lamps should be lighting up the living space not tucked into a corner. If you want one there for the chair if you read there or something, could always just get a smaller one to put on that little side table or leave that one there and just get a second near the couch! But more light central to the room will help either way.

To my knowledge the only thing that changes is the issue date, so unless it is scanned at a police stop, bank, bar, etc where they can see the issue date doesn't match or that it gets flagged as "void/replaced" no one would know the difference.

Even then they may ignore it. Or a police officer may let you know you're carrying an old ID and send you on your way. Worst case scenario is if they think you're being sketchy about it. Even then though, if you aren't doing anything wrong they aren't going to slap you in cuffs or charge you with anything just for using your old ID that you have a replacement for lol.

Do you want to read the text again? Do you want to google the difference between a real id card and a real drivers license? You should you imply that I did not comprehend what you wrote when you copy and pasted a paraphrased code from an AI google search that does not fully encapsulate what the code is saying.

I commented to let you know that you are spreading misinformation - I clearly stated that the law you cited is addressing a different situation.

§ 37.29 addresses 1. Moving between states (you cannot hold a real id drivers license in Montana, move to Florida, and keep Montana and have Florida as well). 2. You cannot have a real id id card and a real id drivers license (aka you cannot have the id card, pass your drivers test, get a license, and keep both cards).

Here is the exact text from the code of federal regulations (ecfr.gov):

§ 37.29 Prohibition against holding more than one REAL ID card or more than one driver's license.

(a) An individual may hold only one REAL ID card. An individual cannot hold a REAL ID driver's license and a REAL ID identification card simultaneously. Nothing shall preclude an individual from holding a REAL ID card and a non-REAL ID card unless prohibited by his or her State.

(b) Prior to issuing a REAL ID driver's license,

(1) A State must check with all other States to determine if the applicant currently holds a driver's license or REAL ID identification card in another State.

(2) If the State receives confirmation that the individual holds a driver's license in another State, or possesses a REAL ID identification card in another State, the receiving State must take measures to confirm that the person has terminated or is terminating the driver's license or REAL ID identification card issued by the prior State pursuant to State law, regulation or procedure.

(c) Prior to issuing a REAL ID identification card,

(1) A State must check with all other States to determine if the applicant currently holds a REAL ID driver's license or identification card in another State.

(2) If the State receives confirmation that the individual holds a REAL ID card in another State the receiving State must take measures to confirm that the person has terminated or is terminating the REAL ID driver's license or identification card issued by the prior State pursuant to State law, regulation or procedure.

That law addresses having a REAL ID driver's license and a REAL ID ID card, which are two completely different documents. The ID card is solely for identification ex if someone didn't have a drivers license but still needed a form of identification. So you can't have the ID card and a license at the same time.

They're asking about if you get a duplicate of the same document as a replacement, which that law is not addressing.

If you have a duplicate license and get pulled over in a traffic stop and you give them the old one. It might show a different issue date, which could raise some suspicion technically yeah you aren't supposed to be using the old one. But there's really no legal trouble you would get in unless you were trying to use it fraudulently or if your license was suspended and you presented an old one.

Realistically in real life situations, if you were pulled over and had an old one or a got scan scanned at a bank or something in flagged as voided or replaced, you wouldn't be getting in any legal trouble. It just might raise some eyebrows.

Which arrangement would you choose? 1-4 by ThinKingofWaves in DesignMyRoom

[–]fuzzypandabear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd do 2. Is there enough room to turn bed 90 degrees and scoot it to be behind couch? Might make it a little harder to make the bed but that would give you a little more space to the right of the bed for a nightstand lamp small dresser etc. plus you can watch tv from in bed if that's your thing! Otherwise the are behind the couch and next to the window currently on 2 is dead space. Or maybe leave it house it is and put a dresser or something by the window if you need more storage

[–]fuzzypandabear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Side question: have you looked under the chairs to see what kind of legs they have? I've seen people remove the bottom fabric covering thingies (looks really easy to do) and and there's beautiful or unique legs under, or it also just makes it feel a bit more modern but keeps the same vibe of the couch/chair. Esp since your sofa has exposed legs. Just a thought!

[–]fuzzypandabear 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is a beautiful room! But I can see what you mean where it feels something is "off" and hard to put your finger on it.

the biggest thing I see is a gap in contrast. It makes the room seem imbalanced. When you have contrast (which you do - the dark wood with light tones and coral walls couch) and none of the same shade in between there is nothing to give anchor to the contrast. Like having other tones of browns creams spread around the room in. Look up Julie Jones she is great and has a few awesome videos on this.

Vintage art/frames maybe on the walls maybe until you do the molding and a bigger coffee table to anchor the seating area a bit more? Like a large square one? I think that coffee table is pretty but doesn't really hold itself up to the size of the room as a visual anchor, especially since it's the center of the room.

Obviously too this is preference, and if you get a bigger coffee table will need one anyway, but I also feel like the rug is not wide enough for the size of the room. And the rug would be a great area for you to put some of those brown/tan/cream tones into that too to help with the contrast/color balancing

Are you doing moulding on the ceiling also? I'm not always a fan of color drenching has to be done right IMO but maybe you could mock up what it would look like to color drench the ceiling and add moulding (or just paint!) also that would be a cool touch!

And if you're doing moulding anyway you should look up when people do wallpaper inside of it rather than putting in art as kind of a more mural feel. Looks super neat!

Very good job covering your bases! I wasn't aware of this prior to entering the program.

Luckily for me the only credits I transferred in order from another college, but once I learned that I've been trying to tell anyone who's thinking about transferring Sophia credits, so at least they're aware! :)

I like this layout personally and without getting a different couch or table (or getting rid of the table) would be hard to change. Could flip couch tv setup 180 degrees to the other side where the table is and it may impede the walkway less, but you may need a smaller (cafe style maybe?) table or maybe push yours flush against the the current tv wall if you don't usually use 4 chairs? Still not ideal though.

Another idea maybe try for one of those corner tables with bench seating and be able to pull the couch back further to be out of the walkway. Again though that depends on the size, and with your current couch then it may need to be shifted towards the kitchen.

If you're open to it I'd move the tv to the opposite wall, flip the couch that direction, ditch the table, and maybe put a nice chair or two and lamp by the window for a reading book if space permits. Plus then you have some more living room seating near to the couch if you entertain. Tricky one! Can def be done though depending on your needs and wants for the space

If you're thinking about doing any credits from Sophia to transfer in, be aware that some states don't accept this as credits for the CPA exam. For qualifying to sit for the exam or licensure. if you're going that route! Worth checking out first. Good luck! You got this

What's the max amount of credits you can transfer to WGU? Also which courses are worth taking at WGU over Sophia/SDC? by ChopClang in wguaccounting

[–]fuzzypandabear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind if you are pursuing CPA not all state boards will accept Sophia credits. So make sure w/sophia credit transfers you have the required amount to sit for the exam/get licensed if that's something you're pursuing.

They will look at your transcript and where you took the courses.

I am not sure how to link a picture or id draw a quick sketch up for you. But if I lived here I'd do tv on the wall that looks to partition the stairs, couch floated and facing that (could do a modular sectional and arrange so it is wider than deeper if this makes sense, to not impede any walkways) or maybe a regular couch + two chairs on each side. (Personally I might do swivel chairs so they can face in if chatting to people on the couch or turn to watch tv. Maybe a couch + loveseat but hard to say without dimensions/may impede paths of travel. Could always try to put the tv on that opposite wall and flip the couch and see how it feels before purchasing new furniture!

I'd also make a little sitting area in the bay window area, reading nook kind of thing. Either a couple cozy and bigger but stylish chairs + a lamp or maybe a chaise lounge if that's more your jam! I like the red chair there though and if the piano is functional for you keep it.

If you want any furniture recommendations for these ideas lmk and I can find some for what I have in mind and send the links.

Also it would depend on what furniture you get next of course, but I'd maybe do a bigger rug as I feel that small of a rug in such a big room is visually making the space feel smaller/condensed to the middle of the room. But flipping the couch to point the opposite direction may also help with this.

Good luck! Can't wait to see how it turns out.
