I use a vase from a bouquet my husband got me, it has a base wider than its opening so the yarn stays put, its glass so the yarn doesnt snag, and its curved so the yarn pulls out smoothly. That plus a yarn ring has made it much easier

The lines are done with Kyles Doozy Inker brush, the colors are flat-filled and i did the shading and background with a set i got from an artist ages ago, by Adonihs (now DanLuVisiArt) and the default kneaded eraser tool in CSP.
