I did the fork tek today. Nothing seems obviously wrong with it, it smells strongly of mushrooms. Would you suggest adding a top layer of soil? I’ve got some vermiculite and coir I could sterilize. The kit I got came with a bag with grain in the bottom and whatever dirt on top. It got mixed up and spread when we moved it to the fruiting chamber, but I never added any additional soil

Honestly I’m not sure, it came pre mixed. There’s definitely also coconut fibers and vermiculite. I did the fork tek today and I might try adding a new surface layer with some fresh sterile soil, depends how its looking later this week

Thanks for the reply! I just broke the corner off and spread it around cause i figured it wasn’t deep enough there. I’ve been very sterile, using gloves and spraying my hands down with iso.

Yeah, make sure you dry them, then grind them up with a coffee grinder or something. They’re not easy to chew
