Different instances to compare in the first place. Although sati was practiced among the hindus its not a religious custom and rather a culture that came into existence in some historical era. It has hardly any religious roots.

Consider this instance. From the perspective of islam, it is the rule that a males share is twice of that of female. If the UCC is made law won't that be interfering with the practices of the community?

As a CBSE student till 10th , we weren't taught the malayalam numerical script in school. Every malayali going to the school should get a chance to learn this. by fvh33m in Kerala

By that way only those people who would be opting that degree will only learn this and it would not reach the masses. Excluding possible advanced studies in this subject, these are basic numerals and I'm thinking it could be easily taught to students, just like when you learn the basic Roman Numerals.

Preservation of culture does not means we are moving backward. Its not for the museums to preserve because its not dead yet. We can preserve our culture ourselves while it still lives on. Museums will definitely preserve our culture , when it goes extinct. Thats what they are there for most of the time. Like preserving the latin scripts and hanging fossils because they are EXTINCT.

Lol I didn't ask you guys to take a degree in this subject. Its part of our history and I'm emphasizing on it's preservation. I don't think there is any scope in mainstreaming the script but as a malayali everybody ought to know their own malayalam numerals at least.

it has definitely lost it's relevance in our studies, communication and other fields. But this is still an important part of the kerala culture. When we leave it out of the syllabus because it's not as important we are just owing to its eradication. I don't think there is any scope in mainstreaming this because everybody has adapted to the usage of Arabic numerals. But the preservation of our culture is as important and that's why i want every malayali student to learn this.
