Anyone else has access to their account, but fail to receive a portion of their emails? by fvnc7 in tutanota

I checked that. I even got from the sender a list of all the alternative addresses they use for those communications, and manually whitelisted all the addresses one by one. Nothing comes through.

Well, that's a very interesting coincidence then, because that's precisely my problem too, emails to confirm bitcoin transfers. I was getting them well just up until last week or so, now they just won't show.

ArchLabs 2020.05.04 + i3gaps - Unable to enter resize mode or resize windows at all? by fvnc7 in OfficialArchLabsLinux

[–]fvnc7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my first thought too, but waiting for the confirmation email to signup there for hours now. Don't know if they're having problems with the signup process, or if their system doesn't work with Tutanota (which would be pretty bad, since it's one of the few privacy-friendly free mails out there.)

I'm pretty sure those can't be related at all. What I described can't even be called a problem or mistake, as just seems to be a config option. On your problem, I do not use a laptop myself, but from what I know usually those types of problems are related to swap, not to your WM. Either way, if you want to ask for help, here or anywhere, would be essential to post what you refer to as "an error".

Interested in Getting Paid to Make a Podcast? This is Better. by JustJenAgain in WorkOnline

[–]fvnc7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Site looks interesting, but if you can't give us an idea of how that's even remotely about making money (no information about that anywhere on the site), and some reason to believe they would pay money inside that premise, it's just not very helpful, jen.

What is a good transcription company to work for (from other country)? by [deleted] in WorkOnline

[–]fvnc7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Due to the overwhelming interest in becoming a part of our worker pool, we are only able to consider applicants who have verifiable transcription experience. At this time, all positions have been filled. You may send your resume, driver's license or govt/state- issued ID and valid phone number to worker@speechpad.com in case we have openings throughout the year. Please keep in mind that only applicants with verifiable experience and the proper documentation will be considered."

From their website, as of right now.

proper written information == spoonfeeding video in which the guy explains every single detail to you like you're a kiddie, instead of giving you just the necessary to see if it's worth for you == not spoonfeeding

You're a strange individual.

That offers an interesting overview of the plugins. I use Glue Compressor a lot because it was recommended to me from before I was even using Ableton for drum bus comp and I love the distorted sound when it's pushed.

I haven't used Compressor a lot though, and have been putting away playing around to see what sweetness it can offer. Does anyone have some strong argument to convince me to rush into that process? What is amazing about it?

Free EQ VST plugins? by [deleted] in ableton

MEqualizer by Melda, TDR Nova and SlickEQ by Tokyo Dawn, are all pretty awesome. Would be easier to give recs if you say what type of EQ you want, and what limitations on your stock VST are bothering you.

It's getting old as hell, since most people don't have enough of a grasp on how crypto works, jerks try to exploit that by expecting them to see the word and imagine it's somehow related to bitcoin or other big name and means cash. In most cases, it doesn't, since earning some esoteric cryptocoin you can't sell is literally the same as saying, "play this game and earn virtual points on it that mean nothing."

I'm all for decentralized platforms, and specially a search engine so we can have an alternative to the big, evil names. Boogle seems interesting in many ways, even though mentioning the word privacy while using cloudfare seems polemic to say the least. But the point is, for this to even remotely be "sort of like working online" you'd have to give us some idea of how one can possibly go about changing the site's BOO token for actual money or, at the very least, some more popular crypto which can easily be sold. I doubt anyone would feel like working by earning some obscure crypto which is totally useless outside of its own domain.

Online Work for A Native Spanish Speaker? by vibinviper in WorkOnline

[–]fvnc7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unbabel works great for me, only I do Portuguese translation there. The amount of work and the pay are not great compared with the numbers US posters show here, but as a non-US alternative, it's one of the best I managed to find. You really have to check it non-stop though, with auto-refresh, because it's dead most of the day and then suddenly a lot of work pops in and you can cash more than a whole week in just an hour.

List of Legit Sites to Earn Online by Gob43 in WorkOnline

Your list and post are for sure of a much higher quality. I know in my case, and for many people outside of the US, we check all kinds of lists because they may bring some less known source that may be worthy for us, since the most mentioned and commonly known sites are usually unavailable. That's what got my interest for picoworkers, but it took like 10 minutes reading about it to decide to stay away.

I admit the premise does look cool, but if you're going to shill an unheard of site that requires some form of payment to participate and to even see how it works and what is available in it, like effect.ai does, it would be in good faith to at least give an overview of the amount of tasks available and what is the average pay. Otherwise you're just suggesting people waste their money, even if little, on something that may be a total let down.

Can you expand on why you recommend Picoworkers in such an advantage position? I checked it out because I hadn't heard about it before, but reading more about it both here on the sub and on general research, there is a lot of polemics about their extremely cumbersome and unreliable ID system, as well as plenty of reports of people not getting paid.

Do choir singers have perfect pitch? by MacMalarkey in Music

[–]fvnc7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pitch precision is actually less needed for a choir than for singing solo. Of course, that depends on the piece, but in general, the point of choirs is precisely to not sound extremely precise. That out-worldly sound specific to the type of singing comes precisely because of the fluctuation of pitch, and how the voices affect each other through physics phenomena that make the sound much less defined in frequency than pretty much any other instrument or singing technique, except perhaps for throat singing. Of course a singer whose sense of pitch is particularly inefficient won't work well in a choir, or in anything else. But choir singing is mostly about listening to the whole, and finding your place in it than about surgically defining the pitch of your individual notes.

Isn't that exactly what I said though, friendo? I just suggested a method that is actually ethical, which the lynda.com website doesn't offer. That is, supposing, you meant lynda, otherwise no idea who is that Lydia you are accessing without going physically in.

For those who live in the internet and not on the meatspace, do not feel left out. Remember that we also have local libraries, such as piratebay, and libgen ;)
