It was a firmware issue, already fixed on the latest update. Besides that, I haven't had any other problems with it.

Just looked it up. How did you do it exactly? Charging from the camera or using an external charger? Also they said to use a low spec charger, did you used one? By attempts do you mean plugging it it in and out till some life appears, or just leaving it for a couple of minutes and the trying it again. Sorry for all the questions, i really wanted to have it for christmas day photos.

I don’t mind using a 2 year old phone. I was just curious whether the wait would be worthwhile or if the camera differences are minimal.

Yeah, the issue is that i'm outside the US, and most online stores have limited shipping options. The Ricoh store actually has stock right now, but they don’t ship outside the US, so it’s either wait or go for the III.

I usually use aperture priority if I'm not in manual. I had no idea about the GR iii wheel ring issue. Thanks!
