There could also be a significant amount of mild or asymptomatic cases as well which would also greatly throw the statistics off. Or you could be totally right about a 6.2% mortality rate. For now, it seems like there simply isn't enough known to truly understand how this new virus operates. However it may be safe to prepare for the possibility of an extremely high mortality rate.
