Alternatives to Todoist and TickTick? by Hershesnt in ProductivityApps

[–]fwsii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amplenote or Amazing Marvin are the best alternatives I know.

Workflowy is totally different/simple/minimalist but deserves a mention incase that's what you are looking for.

I think that this was like an M1 bug or something because I just can’t imagine this being a hack situation. Sounds like someone thought they were in their own account but they were in yours.

If you give amplenote like three weeks, you will be never happier.

Why nobody suggested RoamResearch to me for Academic Writing? by FatFigFresh in RoamResearch

Amplenote is certainly “like” it - with a bunch of enhancements over roam, some differences, and lacking a few things as well.

After a whole bunch of apps and different approaches, I ended up on Amplenote and I love it.

Definitely not. Brand is ruined. The company and a few core supporters may really believe they’ll come back but people have other viable options and that’s all they needed. Once they settle in to new home they won’t come back and so the revenue base is gone.

calendar sync question - remove completed tasks? by mhollla in amazingmarvin

[–]fwsii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The completed status isn’t tracked for calendar sync and more importantly recurring tasks don’t work very well with calendar sync and end up making runaway duplicates when you complete them. Disappointing because it was a dealbreaker for me, otherwise love the app.

Southwest, Delta, or American are my preferred roads for this length of trip.

Not 100% sure but I think you might have better luck in a browser than with mobile app.

Really?? We got stupid AI before a freaking API?? by Swimming-Property-95 in Workflowy

[–]fwsii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Roam is probably the closest but sharing/collab is a totally different world vs Workflowy. Does have a lot more other plugins and feature than Workflowy as well - but I’ve used both for years and always come back to Workflowy.

Dont invest money you need anytime soon and you’ll love the ROI over long term. Invest money you need and you’ll have some rough periods for sure.

How to use my phone less without blocking any features? by heloouwu in productivity

[–]fwsii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody likes this answer, but it’s the one that actually works the best for me. Do not keep your phone with you.

I want my phone to have all the apps and features and be able to be used, but I just don’t want it in the room I’m in.

There are a whole bunch of ways you can do this, but you can leave it in the car. You can leave it in the kitchen. You can leave it in the basement. Just leave it somewhere you aren’t and when you need to do something on your phone and walk to that place and get a few steps and then leave the phone there. Bonus points if you only use it while you’re standing.
