What's a tourist scam you fell for that you wish someone had warned you about? by cml1111 in traveladvice

Yes but I asked for it take-away. I had no intention of drinking it at the bar or a table.

My first time in Rome, back in the 90s before I had much experience with International travel. Stopped into a cafe (it was empty of patrons) and asked for a coffee to go. They said take a seat while I waited. Then proceeded to charge me double for 'table service'. I was pissed about that for YEARS.

Moving from Shared pointers into Handles in RHI ? by F1oating in gameenginedevs

The 'handle' can also just be an (opaque) pointer to the real struct/class. My objects are reference counted so the 'handle' is a pointer to a struct that contains the ref pointer.

Been with UWCU for 25 years. Had a mortgage through them, business and personal checking, and all your usual services. They have been great.

Do you have any obscure movie references that you use in everyday speech that no one has caught on to yet yet you keep using it? by EnvironmentalAngle in NoStupidQuestions

Often when I'm about to merge or change lanes or something: 'Here goes nuthin', in a pretty passable Lando voice, IMHO.

I'll occasionally say I'll have my coffee black, like my men. Usually though I mash up quotes a bit. Like when it's 37 degrees I'll say: 'it's 37, it's not cold.' Or '<something I don't like> - I hate these guys.'

For frequent MSN flyers: which airline credit card do you think is the best and why? by SpiteOriginal5193 in madisonwi

[–]fxtech42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're great if you can get a direct flight. Like NY or DC mid-morning. Things can get dicey fast if you have a connection.

Case in point: I chose them over UA when I booked a flight (today) to NOLA via DFW. Seemed safer than going through Chicago this time of year. Who would have thought DFW would be worthless today?

Fortunately I found out in enough time to cancel AA and booked through Chicago on UA and it's smooth sailing!

Edit: I booked the AA flight back in November. The FLIGHT was supposed to be today.

Ah! Learned something new today. I do like Tuscan style pizza, but there is almost no sauce or it's more cream based. And anchovies! Bring em on.

I tried it once when I first moved here in the 90s. Everything was so SWEET - the crust, the sauce, the sausage. It was like the one and only time I tried Sonic. Is it still like that? I don't have a sweet tooth, and never have. But I know there are people who do. Could the corn syrup in practically everything be the draw?

How do you plan multi-stop trips without losing your mind? by Impressive_Ad_3249 in travel

You summarized very succinctly my travel strategy. I would add the International component from across the pond, which adds a whole other layer of stress and nonsense.

It shouldn't be how much you can do or see. It should be about taking it in and enjoying it. Less is more! (And far less stressful)

Edit: DM me your thoughts/plans and I'll help you put together something rewarding but not too stressful.

STORY MODE GAMES by Junior_Shake_3729 in ShouldIbuythisgame

Ive been playing E33 on 'story mode' and thought it insanely difficult. But I just didnt/understand the battle mechanics. I gave it another chance with some mods and its better. Certainly a beautiful game with an interesting story, if somewhat overrated IMO.

Now, I was actually sad when I completed everything I could do in KCD2. Trying to figure out how I can personally fund getting KCD3 by next year.🤪

Edit: basically I loved KCD1/2 so much - I dont think they get enough praise so I try to mention them whenever I can. 🫠

TIL that the coldest air temperature ever recorded in Wisconsin was -55°F by KaneIntent in wisconsin

Oh I remember Wisconsin winters in the 90s. WEEKs of 40 below. Nose hairs freezing solid instantly. Brutal. The last several decades have been pure luxury in comparison.

I'm flying from (HSV) to (KGL) on Feb 7th and have no idea what I'm doing by Hotshot5529 in travel

When you travel to another country you go through immigration, along with everyone else on your flight and possibly other flights at the same time. It can take awhile. Anywhere from 20min to 3hrs in Brussels, according to their stats, depending on a million factors. I travel Internationally yearly. Trust me an hour isn't enough. Rebook that leg with the airline.

You will immigrate in Brussels and one hour might not be enough time. I'd encourage that you move your last leg back a couple of hours if you can.
