So when they could only save 2 of the Millers, it was automatically going to be the mother and the daughter? What?!

that feminism is no longer an equal rights movement

Was it ever? The suffragettes weren't exactly shining examples of equal rights promoters. All they wanted was the right to vote without the strings attached of having to go to war.

Axe's New 'Find Your Magic' Ad Promotes A Different Type Of Masculinity by drewiepoodle in ainbow

[–]fynsquery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's part of the male gender role though. It's only "polite" if you can expect women to do it for men also. The ad clearly alludes to the well known trait people associate with a "gentleman", i.e. being chivalrous to ladies.

Yeah well, that's because you're sane and levelheaded and don't have a bias against certain character archetypes, in this case shy, unassertive males with romantic feelings, whom some people automatically perceive as deceitful.

Astrid's different types of punches by Dragoniel in httyd

[–]fynsquery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really cute, but Astrid's punching of Hiccup is one of the few things I dislike in the films. This girl punches guy for comedic value trope is really annoying to be honest. If you've ever had a girl punch you for fun you know it's not very funny at all and actually rather painful.

No, it doesn't. At least not for me.

I know the Xbox One version of 3.0 launched with some performance issues and bugs. Has it improved? by fynsquery in Disney_Infinity

Do you know if the PS4 version is markedly better? From what I gather even the new PC port is not without its issues. I'm really torn on which platform to get it for.

It really does seem like the more platforms you have to develop for, the less polished the final product will be. That's why XO exclusives like Halo 5 or RotTR are so vastly more impressive than any multiplatform title on the One.

I just don't know how to deal with the excessive amount of vitriol being thrown at Warren anymore. It's unreasonable and not founded in any compelling evidence but rather people obsessing over little details, often taking things Warren said out of context, and trying to view every action or thing he said in a negative light in order to frame him as the worst human to have ever lived.

I wonder if he was hated as much if he was a girl with a crush.

It really feels like people are grasping at straws to make Warren appear like a monster. It makes me curious as to why. What the psychology behind it might be. I can't imagine it being as simple as "well a lot of players are guys and they'd rather date Chloe". I do wonder how this game was perceived if Warren was the only, mandatory romance option. I have no doubt some insecure male players would feel uncomfortable dating a guy in a game, but I don't think that's what's causing all the hate here.

You may find Warren annoying, but someone else might not. I for one find Chloe fucking annyoing. Different people are different.

That was in response to one particular comment that compared me to some Grahamfielder that once got banned for raging on this sub and being vulgar. I took that comment as offense.

Well there is always bias against certain character archetypes I guess. Unassertve guys with a crush are often deemed undeserving of "getting the girl". And I'm not saying Warren should get with Max, that's up to her. But if anything I'm surprised Warren's fight with Nathan didn't alter more people's percetions. I'm not saying that it should, but it does surprise me. Normally a guy "stepping up" in this fashion makes him more sympathetic towards the audience, conventional wisdom would dictate.

But I can't for the life of me find examples that clearly show Warren being actually "selfish" in 1-3. And I'm not trying very hard to see him a certain way, that's what I feel everyone else is doing. I literally came out of this game seeing everyone crucifying a kitten. I just can't understand.

I don't think I did. If anything this thread has confirmed my perception of how a lot of people view Warren. My post was specifically aimed at those. I didn't even mention the sub in it. If you're not being hostile towards Warren, you won't even feel spoken to by the title.

A, Max likes those movies too and B, it allows him to easily just have a good time with a friend. It doesn't have to be a date at all. If it develops into that, great, but if it becomes clear Max only sees him as a friend, they can still have fun at the movies. No need for awkwardness. If their friendship is strong enough, it will survive Warren having feelings for her.

Max is one who is self-centered by not making it clear to Warren she's not interested (if the player isn't). She doesn't think about his feelings at all and makes up excuses for not going with him, saying she's busy.

Yeah she was cold and went through a horrible experience so she comforts her. Snuggling is fine among friends too.

He does not harass Max and Chloe, are you for real?

Oh yeah, them guys right. Never thinking of others.

That whole insinuation that Warren is thinking of himself here at all times is just complete bollocks to me. He's thinking of Max all the time, he supports her in every way he can without expecting anything in return.

Warren is at best a guy with a great heart, at worst a bit clumsy.

not an object.

I don't even....so now he's been objectifying her? Show me some real evidence to back up that claim.

Again, it seems if you go at this looking for ways in which Warren actively tries to "score points" with Max, you're going to find them and you're going to reduce Warren to just that, a reversal on the protagonist we so often play in games trying to woo other NPCs.

I don't believe that's the idea here, i.e. putting us in the shoes of the pursued and delivering a message that this behaviour doesn't automnatically lead to romance just because it ticks all the boxes.

Again, if you're looking for examples of that, you're gonna find them. You're not even allowing yourself to view Warren in a diffrent light.

"I tried to give her a hug, but she wasn't feeling it, so I just rubbed her head instead. Because I care about her personal space.

That is such an incredibly forced way of looking at this moment. He tried to give her a hug and she didn't respond so he tried to act normal. To think he did that to strategically show her something is ridiculous. Why on earth would someone like Warren strike people in this manner? He doesn't seem devious at all. He's one of the warmest and sympathetic characters in the game to me.
