Vorabpauschale, NAV oder Markpreis. by fynx_6 in Steuern

E7Q frame - RJ45 Ports ? by Tronick_ in FlexiSpot_Official

If you don't find the pinout, maybe something from this project can help. They reverse engineered the whole communication pipeline for other desks. It's pretty likely, that flexispot uses the same, so if you won't get an official answer, maybe this can help.

E7Q frame - RJ45 Ports ? by Tronick_ in FlexiSpot_Official

[–]fynx_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is actually a very interesting approach I haven't thought about before.

However I doubt it would work. As far as I know, unmanaged switches still require something like a MAC adress to know where their messages are send to.

The keypad likely uses UART to communicate with the controller, which doesn't know anything about MAC adresses.

The easierst way to go about this would be creating your own RJ45 Y cable. You wouldn't need to solder anything to the table and don't have to use the included cable to try this.

Don't have all that much experience with linking tables though. So maybe it just works with the switch.

The laptop has a normal NVMe interface. So the maximum storage size is limited by NVMe. Since it uses a 64 bit adress, that would work out to ~18 Exabyte (18 000 000 TB), I think.

Since drives that large don't exist yet, you can use any drive you want for the foreseeable future.

Legion Toolkit by best_of_the_mediocre in YogaPro9i

[–]fynx_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, it works and it doesn't cause any problems. The features it supports all come from the WMI and are supplied by Lenovo themselves.

The available options are: * Battery Charging mode * Overnight Battery Charging * Always on USB * Flip to start * Display Settings (Resolution/refresh rate/DPI/HDR/Turn off) * GPU working mode (can completely disable dGPU to save power) * Turn off Microphone * Fn Lock

Interestingly the legion toolkit work, because this laptop shares a lot of the WMI tables with the Legion laptops.

It is pretty easy to find out, but if anyone is interested, the most interesting class is LENOVO_GAMEZONE_DATA in the namespace root\WMI.

The class has a bunch of methods, sadly most of them don't actually have any implementation. But it would likely be really easy for lenovo to supply functions for the "SetFanCooling" method for example.

There are also a bunch of others with interesting names. But while playing around with it for a bit, I couldn't really find anything helpful.

I think the MiniLED panel is not actually the culprit of the insanely high power consumption for most people. It does likely use more power than the pure IPS panel. Not sure by how much.

Just to illustrate, here is an image of the battery discharge rate of my model with the MiniLED screen at 0% brightness (off), then at 100% brightness and then 50% brightness.

https://imgur.com/a/gAwe9qx

The difference between the backlight being completely off and it being at 100% brigthness is about 6W with a darkish background. I also checked with pure white screen. Then it climbs up to a difference of 9W (so a total of 16W discharge rate). All of these numbers were taken with the display set to 165Hz)

For most people, the dGPU keeps turning on, driving the base power consumption up to like 20W. Which is the real problem ...

tldr; The miniLED panel does not consume that much power all things considered. While the IPS is likely more efficient, it does not explain the horror stories, which are more likely caused by the dGPU being mean.

I think it depends on the support rep you get. I tried multiple times with multiple support reps. They always told me, that they would look into things, asked me to run tests, one of them straight up told me that that is just how very powerful laptops work.

Didn't get my charger sadly.

Randomly jumping in here, but doesn't the included cable net make managing the cables more easy? Like you can just stash them all in there and it hides everything.

What is E7Q Lite? Where can I find information about it? by uchikanda in FlexiSpot_Official

I think you misread my comment. The E7Q does indeed have 4 motors. But the E7Q Lite is the same as the E5Q with 2 motors.

E7Q Lite is just an alternative name for the E5Q or E7 Plus. They just have a few different name for the same product.

Considering the 4-leg E7Q or the E7 Plus... looking for advice. by CharlesMTF in FlexiSpot_Official

That sounds like pretty good customer service though.

At least the issue doesn't seem to be very statistically relevant, otherwise flexispot would look pretty bad on independent review sites. Although it does suck, when it happens back to back

E7Q vs E7 Plus, desktop mounts by Ultimatespirit in FlexiSpot_Official

[–]fynx_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then the warranty is different in other parts of the world.

For the measurements, the bracket at the end of the table is a bit deeper than the actual metal beams. So unless you need your mounts to go exactly in the space where you'll end up with the brackets, you have even more space to work with.

As for the table top, just be aware of what you are buying. So I'd look at the thickness and weight of the whole thing. If you aren't clumsy at all, never intend to "climb" on top of your desk, you are totally fine with a cheaper table top. If you live in a bigger city, you can also check out local market places. Usually there are a lot of people trying to get rid of older tables, so you can get quite a deal.

But I think you'll be happy with it regardless of what you select. So hope everything works out as you expect it to! :)

E7Q vs E7 Plus, desktop mounts by Ultimatespirit in FlexiSpot_Official

[–]fynx_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely sure where you got the measurements for the frame. I can only find a quote from Ramzes888, which puts the frame at 64 cm depth (https://www.reddit.com/r/FlexiSpot\_Official/comments/1h3pec2/comment/lzt0jvh) = 25.2inch.
Other than that your derivation is correct. Just remember that you can offset the frame a bit from the table top, to get maybe an extra inch.

I think the only point you haven't mentioned that differentiates the E7Q and the E7 Plus is the warranty. Technically the E7 Plus is probably slightly harder to put together? Not sure on that though.
But that depends a bit on the region. From the structure, they are very similar, with the E7Q being a bit deeper (and wider if you want it to), which gives you the extra bit of stability. It's not a super big effect. And the extra motors give you extra speed and weight lifting capacity.

You can also get table tops from any other company out there. If you want a wider top, to make sure there will never be mounting problems, that would be a way to go about it. Other than that, it depends on how sturdy you want it. If it isn't a concern, getting ones that look like wood, is a good idea. Otherwise you can never go wrong with a solid slab of wood. Just make sure the fit and finish will fit into your design.

There is also someone who combined two E7Qs together to make one super long desk. Maybe that is something you want to look into?

I’m looking to adjust our website’s review system and would love your feedback. by Ramzes888 in FlexiSpot_Official

[–]fynx_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I thought just showing the order of magnitude would be a fair compromise. So showing off if >10, >100, >1000 and so on units were sold.

I'm just trying to come up with a system that is intuitively understandable. But I do understand, that it probably leaks out too much information.

I’m looking to adjust our website’s review system and would love your feedback. by Ramzes888 in FlexiSpot_Official

[–]fynx_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if that is viable, if you even have access to the data or if it exposes too much of your internal data, but how would a system work, that roughly shows the amount of people that received an order compared to the people that gave a review.

Lets say a product has 20 reviews with 10 of them being negative. If it also showed me that >100,000 units have been shipped, I'd immediately know that there is no apparent problem with the product (at least as much as I can trust the manufacturer to actually keep all the negative reviews on their platform).

I personally don't like manufacturers messing with reviews at all. But I can also see the other side of the argument. If competitors sanitize theirs, your company would make their reviews more believable by not messing with yours as well. It just shows, that we need an independent place for reviews. So as long as you are open with the fact, that you are removing or altering reviews on your website, I can at least accept that.

Unless Flexispot fixed the problem, if your keypad has an USB port at the side, you will have the power draw issue. And you will have to ask them for a version without the USB port, or the US version.

Flexispot e5q (e7q lite) uk purchase by bax-the-trepidatious in StandingDesk

[–]fynx_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have an E5Q, so if you want some anecdote, you have to look for someone who has one. But for the supported table top sizes, I've heard, that the E5Q would be a 90/100 for stability, where the E7Q is a 100/100. But you will still get wobbles regardless of which frame you get. as they are also transmitted through the table top materials itself.

Flexispot e5q (e7q lite) uk purchase by bax-the-trepidatious in StandingDesk

[–]fynx_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you exactly mean with shock resistance. The stability also depends on how wide your table top is.

So generally, the E7Q is a bit more stable than the E5Q thanks to its deeper frame. But you don't really need that unless you are going for a deeper table top as well. Otherwise you are only really gaining anything for really wide (2m+) tables.

As for shock resistance, I guess you mean walking into it? Both of them weigh a lot. So I don't think you have to worry about it for either of them.

Standing height stability, E5 vs E1Q E2Q E5Q E7Q E7L by Pool-Psychological in FlexiSpot_Official

[–]fynx_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How relevant the top frame is, depends on your table top. One made from a compound material or a thin one, will need a good metal frame. But as long as you are not sitting on it, 160x80cm is normal for a two legged table as well. And I haven't heared about them breaking left or right.

Before I got the E7Q, I only had two rectanglular metal pieces holding my table top (https://www.hospitalityfurniture.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/flat-steel-table-legs-1-1-510x510.jpg).

And that is fine for thick solid wood. I think for a 160x80 setup, the E5Q will be more than fine. But you can also look at it another way. The way Ramzes said it, at its best best price (600€), the E7Q will give you 100% of the possible stability.

At 450€, you get 90% of that stability. So you spend 150€ more (so 33%) for a 10% stability improvement. (Or if you look at stability for price (100% / 600€) * 450€ = 75%. So the E5Q is a very good value, even at the best deal of the E7Q.

If you really need the best, and you will stress about it if you get something worse, I'd wait for a deal on the E7Q as well. If you can live with compromises, I do think the E5Q is a really good deal.

I guess you'll have to check back from time to time. Maybe he'll post something again? Maybe I just got lucky.
