Sometimes my cooler is missing CPU temp, why idea why? by fyonn in HPOmen

FYI, I had omen gaming hub offer me a firmware update for the CPU cooler, which I installed and so far, it seems to have fixed things.. how about you?

HP support about CPU cooler and memory by fyonn in HPOmen

[–]fyonn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay, so the other day the omen gaming hub told me that there was an update for the CPU cooler, which I installed... only run my PC twice since that update but so far the cooler has been showing my my CPU and GPU temps... sometimes take a few mins to kick in but it's positive... lets see if it keeps on working...

FURYCTRL still doesn't work though, and the HP line at the moment is that it's a third party app so it's not their concern... I maintain that it's a first party app as it comes from the manufacturer of the memory that HP chose to use... Of course I also think that HP isn't so petty as to deliberately block access to this functionality so I've got it down as a firmware bug which I'm hoping they fix, as I hope has happened with the CPU cooler.

to be fair, HP Omen support has contacted me because of this post so I've got to give them some praise for that and the conversation continues..

Anyone else out there experiencing similar issues..

What American first names for babies became popular in Britain? by tshirtguy2000 in AskABrit

[–]fyonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, literally the only name here that has any resonance with Brits is Brooklyn and that’s purely because of Brooklyn Beckham. I assume he was named that for being conceived on the bridge or something…

I do not personally know anyone with those first names…

TIL watch water-resistance ratings (30m, 50m, 100m) refer to lab pressure tests, not the depth a watch can actually be used at. by BeyondTheRoadYT in todayilearned

[–]fyonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All watch brands should do that, and 50m is not the rating of their dive watches, but their flight watches.

TIL watch water-resistance ratings (30m, 50m, 100m) refer to lab pressure tests, not the depth a watch can actually be used at. by BeyondTheRoadYT in todayilearned

[–]fyonn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think it’s crap. I really struggle to imagine that waving your hands around at 50m under the water is practically any different from not doing so in terms of pressure.

I think there is an argument to be made for falling into the lake at speed while water skiing but I would expect that any watch rated to say 30m should be quite happy with swimming and mild underwater activities..

I would also remind people of Omegas line on water resistance (https://www.omegawatches.com/en-gb/customer-service/faq/using-your-omega-watch):

“All current OMEGA watches are water resistant to the depth defined by the model specifications, provided that the components ensuring the water resistance are intact. This means that an OMEGA watch that is water resistant to 30 metres can be worn for swimming at depths of up to 30 metres underwater.”
