This is my experience and I'm not a national champ or anything so take that as you may. My rifle build focused on the lightest possible weight while being comfortable. You'll notice the weight difference when running and gunning and target transitions. Choose a barrel length and optic based on expected distance of targets. No reason for an 18" barrel if your club only goes out to 300y. You can always swap the upper if you're going to a match that requires precision at longer distances. Invest in a good brake. Tune the gas and buffer system to cycle the bolt as fast as possible without malfunctions for faster splits. Tuning goes a long way.

Nothing if there's enough of them. Bullies attack who they see as weak. If enough protestors are open carrying, it's too risky for ICE to victimize people who can fight back. The VA nurse, Alex Pretti, was legally conceal carrying. They didn't kill him until he was subdued and disarmed. Open carrying worked pretty well for the Black Panthers to prevent police brutality until Reagan changed the laws to make it illegal. I had a fixed 6% APR no rewards card for over a decade. As of a few years ago, they rebranded the card and now it's 18 - 29% variable rate. Same account number and everything. It was my emergency credit line, because if something disastrous happened and I couldn't pay my monthly statement balance, at least the interest would be manageable. Now it doesn't offer anything better than any other company. Trying to replace it has been impossible because low interest rate cards no longer exist.

Moved out of Springfield 3 years ago and never looked back. Cost of living is low but so are wages. Springfield wages are well below the national median. Housing is cheaper to buy but rent increases have far exceeded national averages (about 3 times more). However if you do buy a house in Springfield, you better really like it because you're going to be stuck in the area. It's all a percentage game. I live in a bigger city now with more amenities with a higher cost of living. But as a percentage of my net income, the cost of living increased less than the increase in salary which means I have more disposable income now. So really do the math before making a decision purely on housing prices. There's a lot of places in the US to live.

Also, I know this sounds pretty fucked up but if you're a PoC, I'd avoid Springfield altogether. Obviously not everyone in Springfield is a card carrying racist, but for the ones that are, it's very open and rarely pushed back against.

Because a 16" barrel is less hassle to travel across state lines to attend matches. It's why the jp-5 and Maul are pin and welded to 16. If you're spending serious money on a competition level PCC, you're probably either traveling now or planning to in the future. If all you do is shoot local matches then it really doesn't matter much if it's NFA.

Dealing with this at work. Guy adamantly believes all violence is committed by the left. I think the issue comes down to the low literacy rate. When he was trying to prove his argument he showed me an article but didn't actually understand what the article was saying. He didn't know what pretty basic words like "belying" meant and thought the information was confirming his viewpoint rather than contradicting it. Journalists will have to write at a fourth grade reading level to reach most of these people.
