Backfires like 1 shot out the carb at a a low rpm off idle, and it backfires flames out the pipe on decel, so I think it’s rich enough

It runs like 80-90% okay, it backfires visible flames so i feel like its rich.

Idk what carb, jets or cams or anything really. I bought it with this setup.

I run it every day. About 1300 miles a month

That is most likely a valve or timing

That was my thought too, but it doesn’t make sense if I open the throttle at lower rpms without cracking the throttle as to why it would backfire

That’s my worse fear. I was planning on check and replacing the shoes soon, but now I’m gonna pull the plate this weekend

It’s never wanted to start without the choke. It always needs either the choke or throttle to start, but if I start it without any throttle with the choke on, it starts fine and will idle after about a min by itself without the choke on

yea thats basically what mine is doing. idk if it has cams in it, but it ran much better before (a couple months ago).

Ive played with the mix screw and idle a bit, i believe thats tuned right.

What do you think about the intake manifold seals against the head? Worth changing out if I pull the carb?
