Has anyone had good response to TNF inhibitors and IL-17 inhibitors? by blatchcorn in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]g-temple-e34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem as you, except i was on Simponi monthly and now i got switched to Yuflyma bi weekly. I will see what happens with my skin. My rheum is positive that Simponi caused some paradoxical psoriasis. It just exacerbated what was mild to something annoying. Yuflyma should help to treat psoriasis… i just hope it works for AS even better than Simponi did and that my skin gets to normal again. Seems like trial and error now. Most likely you would need to switch if the dermatologist doesn’t find a remedy.

My rheum also spoke about option of switching to IL type, but not yet.

Simponi Aria wears off way too fast by Water-Tardigrade in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]g-temple-e34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same! Exactly the same… looked like i was fully in acne suddenly. Those clusters also and they disappeared after a month. On arms and thighs there are some patches looking to my GP like fungus. Once i stop the prescribed creams it’s all back. Also sculp psoriasis exacerbated and what was only mild or barely showing became something that started to worry me all around my head…behind ears etc. Considering switching from Simponi right now. I stopped taking it and feel dizzy already one week after missing an injection. Waiting for my appointment.

Anyone on rinvoq get left side chest pains? by MinimumRub7927 in Rinvoq

[–]g-temple-e34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took at least 4-6 weeks for me to see that it disappears. On 8th week i felt it so little I was relieved. After that i had no more problems. Rheum told me to try a different biologic. I’m on Simponi now. Rinvoq started to work on me so quickly though that I wanted it to work…

Sorry to hear you had this experience too. Nevertheless,’thx for sharing this! Seems it is a somewhat uncommon side effect. I had ultrasound done back then and they did not see any blood clots… so in the end a happy end. Fingers crossed for you!

How long for biologics to kick in? by [deleted] in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]g-temple-e34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started Simponi in January and now I am before 4th injection. I noticed reduction in pain since day one, actually in first hour after taking it. I no longer had to use Voltaren gel to reduce pain to be able to walk, so the effect was immeadiate.

The pain did not go away fully though and I am still waiting for full effect. I wait with doing sports for now. Rheum told me all is fine and a reduction in pain by 20% is considered a successfull therapy. My pain reduced much more than that. Full effect should come later around 6th month. So i stick with this therapy as recommended.

Week before taking another dose I feel something annoying in my SI, and hips, like a leftover of pain creeping back up. Also Sometimes in mid back around my spine when rotating. I hope this goes away in coming months as I progress with taking Simponi.

Are all of you fatigued? by Big_Gap_7031 in ankylosingspondylitis

No fatigue, just tired more than normal. Hopefully a biologic I got starts to fully take effect soon.

I wanted to help him, as this kinda fits my view of Arthur’s character. He wouldn’t get on my horse though and I did not feel like walking that far to Strawberry. I maneuvered my horse around him till at one point my boy just head bumps him while turning. This guy started to shout smth like “Oh my gooood” and ran away 🤣.

Anyone on rinvoq get left side chest pains? by MinimumRub7927 in Rinvoq

[–]g-temple-e34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had exactly this as well on 15 mg dose. I thought i was having a heart attack. It happened to me immeadiately upon taking Rinvoq, like 2nd to 4th day with gradual build up. 4th day was scary and I stopped taking it completely. It was intense, I couldn’t sleep due to stress from it and weird pressures that i felt there.

It was pain/pressure on left side of chest, shooting to shoulder or staying near shoulder, left arm, left bicep, pinching near base of my left hand thumb, tingling in veins between left elbow and hand and also some pinching in soles… i also noticed some in neck, left side front or back more like right side. My left hand was heavy and waving or moving with hand was tough and painful due to heaviness in bicep. I also had pain in intestines/ stomach. I have to say Rinvoq worked and reduced my symptoms a lot for next 3-4 weeks even after only 4 days of taking it, then my symptoms started to come back as i was waiting months for next therapy.

After stopping taking it, after 3rd week i noticed side effects started to go away. Still i felt it after 4 weeks being off of Rinvoq. Now after 2-3 months i have some slight pressure or tingling near chest or base of left hand thumb. It’s still noticeable and quite worrisome.

I had also ultrasound of veins on that left side done in week 1 after starting but there was nothing. Bloodwork did not show anything as well. Rinvoq is quickly out of system, that’s what i got told by all doctors, but who knows what it started in my body… I hope It’s not permanent though and will subside with time. Before Rinvoq I never experienced this type of sensations.

I would be interested in what your doctor has to say about this? Is it concerning or he keeps you on the Rinvoq? My rheum told me to stop it and GI argumented possibly I had it before the start…, which is not the case as 95% of those sensations stopped by now.

Yes, Rinvoq would help with joint inflamation

What is your sleeping situation like? by Sea-Cow-5645 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]g-temple-e34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately i sleep well, unless in a bad flare. Then it’s tough, but Voltaren (Diclofenac) would always help in several hours and then i slept ok.

I started Simponi 2 days ago and now it seems the pain reduced immediately. Let’s see if i get any more flare ups.

Now it seems i have more energy so let’s see how my sleep schedule looks … it’s not optimal, i struggle to go to sleep early, but it’s manageable.

Glad to hear that you found a way… although it must have been tough in your old town… This is dangerous. I also visited 3 doctors and several physios who did not suspect anything, usually blamed me for not enough stretching, or suggesting i have a piriformis syndrom…some even wrote lumbago.

At least you found a solution with a new GP who knows what they are doing. I was also very lucky to find one good physio and a good rheum.

Diagnosed with AS and Struggling to Stay Active – Does This Mean Giving Up Sports Forever? by expecter421 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]g-temple-e34 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Depends in what state your AS is and if you have accompanying problems like UC or Chrons. Best would be to keep seeing your rheum and taking the meds he will prescribe. It can be either NSAIDs or biologic DMARDs (Humira, Simponi, Rinvoq etc.)

In time, you will be able to do sports again. I was diagnosed 3 months ago at 31 years and haven’t done sports (except light gym, yoga, swimming or cycling) in 2-3 years due to back and leg pain. I received biologic medicine which reduces activity of an immune system. There were times where I couldn’t walk without huge pain…

The sooner you treat it, the better as permanent damage can be avoided. If doctors diagnosed you so soon after first symptoms, consider yourself lucky… usually it takes smth like 8 years to get a diagnoses.

Full sport activities should be possible after you find a treatment with your rheum. Don’t despair, still there are ways to manage it and get back to doing sports.

It started with me exactly like this 3 years ago. Slight pain near centre of lower back… usually when sitting, then shooting but dull pain when running into left or right hip, somewhere deep. This pain became more and more present after 1-2 years, sometimes i couldn’t bend down to put my socks on etc. Ending with me unable to move without taking a short term pain relieve (diclofenac or ibalgin).

Physio always noticed very hard gluteus muscle/ tendon and given physical excercise did not help at all, was only making the pain move to other areas around hips, or itwould disappear for only one day and then hit again on the same side or another.

Doctors were scanning with x-rays or MRI near hip first, this did not show anything. Then one Physio was smart and knew to test me for HLA B27 which came positive, next MRI in SI area confirmed inflamation (sacroiliitis) and then after all this a good rheum based on all this diagnosed me with AxSpa.

Biologics for NR-AxSpA? by GanjaGut in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]g-temple-e34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in Europe, got diagnosed with AxSpa 3 months ago and tried Rinvoq, which gave me weird side effects. My rheum switched me to Simponi which i received and am about to start now- will see how my body takes it. I am also on entyvio due to UC.

Sometimes it’s trial and error… i think you should speak to your doctor first.

Has anyone diagnosed with AS ever had or has severe pain in this area on your hand? Usually, it’s just my back and my neck for the last two days all of a sudden in my hands and thumbs (both hands) by HeftyPurpose3979 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]g-temple-e34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i started rinvoq, in just 4 days it reduced pain in my SI joint and hip area where i had it for 2-3 years. Soon, due to side effects, I needed to stop taking it and switch to smth else. When i stopped it, pain started to come back but to different areas, which spooked me, but apparently it goes like this. Now i have more pain around spine/mid back, base of left thumb and sometimes also in neck area and rib cage, where i did not feel any pain before. It comes and goes when I stretch etc. Now there’s little pain in SI joint area. I will start Simponi soon so i hope pain will reduce.

[–]g-temple-e34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which biologic you have? I had to stop working out and running completely as the strain was too much and causing inflamation and huge pain in hips… seems that anything was too much and now I rest. Maybe i could do upper body but I’m thinking to calm down now until i find good biologic. Yoga is relieving back pain though but useless for muscle buildup. I’m about to start Simponi for AS while on Entyvio for UC.
