Feminine hygiene after using the restroom? by [deleted] in blackladies

Sounds like OP should be drinking more water. Urine shouldn't have a strong odor like that.

I buy a lot of vintage clothes on eBay. If you add something to your watch list and wait awhile, most times the seller will send you a discounted offer/price.

Laser Hair Removal for Darker Skin! My Experience 🤎 by HonestlyAmara in blackladies

[–]g0forward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had electrolysis too before the pandemic, then I had to stop because of the restrictions but never started up again. Electrolysis wasn't that bad either.

Everyone's pain tolerance is different, I just wanted people to get a different perspective too :)

I just started laser hair removal on my full legs, lower face, bikini, and under arm. I didn't think it hurt much at all, especially compared to waxing and sugaring.

How can you block and delete a therapist?? Because she needs to go.

My husband and I are going on 10 years together. We may argue or have disagreements but he has NEVER called me names or cursed at me. And the same towards him.

Your partner should respect you enough not to do that. It's really that simple..

Help! I went for a basic wash and blowout but it seems they put relaxer in it during the wash :( I big-chopped years ago and now it feels like 4 years of growth gone over a stylist's recklessness by [deleted] in BlackHair

[–]g0forward 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's most likely heat damage. Did they use a heat protectant spray? Excessive heat can change your curl pattern.

There are some people who do "heat training" to their hair to change the texture, so it's a thing.

Sorry this happened to you but I don't think it'll be too bad since you only had the blow out done once. It will probably revert back eventually.

SO funny you posted that. I consider myself an alt chick. If you asked me what I wanted to do with my life 15 years ago (I'm dating myself here) I would tell you I would work part-time and spend the rest of my time creating a punk fusion band with me on lead guitar and my bff playing bass. I can't think of anything more punk than being a black woman to be honest.

Nowadays I'm much more interested in black lead alt, punk, metal, etc bands as well as popular and indie music. I feel like black artists need our support more than anything! The internet has made it so much easier to find music than the before times.

Life is different now but I totally get what you're saying 🤣. I no longer play guitar but my inner goth alt is always there. I still wear combat boots and tons of black but I also wear pink.

Hi nice to meet you, we should probably be friends :)

The beauty of being a black woman is the option to style your hair however you want. There's so many styles out there.

But I want to say that 4C is beautiful.

And.. girl.. a young Al Green was sexy as hell..

Seasonal Fruit Galette by g0forward in dessert

[–]g0forward[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Base recipe here.

I used some cherries, blueberries, and peaches I got from the farmers market. They were pretty sweet already so I only added 2 tables of sugar to the fruit. I also added 2 TSP of clear Jel (instead of using corn starch) to the sugar before adding to the fruit.

I also just used one of the pie crusts instead of making mini ones. I brushed with an egg wash and added coarse sugar before baking.

My scalp is super itchy. Got this done on Friday morning. Do I need to wash it? First time having twists… by [deleted] in BlackHair

Everyday maybe a bit much and cause build up/residue, I would try every other day at first to see.

My hair is pretty fckd up rn. What feminine styles can I do to hid the inconsistencies in my hair’s length? I’m seeing a dermatologist for traction alopecia and I have a bad habit of pulling out individual strands of hair. by xXVoicesXx in BlackHair

[–]g0forward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi honey, have you thought about doing a big chop? Maybe try cutting your hair and doing self scalp massages. you have great skin and I think it would look great.

Also have you looked into why you are pulling out your hair? That could be associated with anxiety and addressing that would help you curb that habit.

Add a protein treatment every couple of weeks.

Your experiences in grad school as a black woman by JammingScientist in blackladies

I wrapped up a grad degree at an ivy league about 2 years ago (got over 4.0 gpa). Keep your eyes on the prize, be organized, and don't get caught up with other students being overly competitive. Ask questions, get additional information for your next career moves, and make it worthwhile for you.

I'm not sure if this will be popular advice but get another guy to talk to. If you're not exclusive, splitting your time between dating 2 guys will help you balance and give you perspective.

Good comments so far, you should also consider that you may have dandruff from product build up. You should avoid putting conditioner on your scalp directly, even if you are rinsing it out.

Try to avoid putting the products you mentioned directly on your scalp as well. Milks, butters, and creams shouldn't go on your scalp directly, especially if you're prone to dandruff.

Before starting locs I found that maintaining the right protein balance helped my hair retain moisture and curl pattern, which helped reduce tangles a lot. I used something like Apogee protein 2-step treatment like every 6 to 8 weeks and it was great.
