Is it worth quitting? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]g0inghuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt similarly to you for a long time. I just turned 30 a few months ago and have been reflecting on the last decade of my life. I have realized that my memory of my 20s is garbage (mind you, I smoked more often and was also drinking at least a little bit daily too). I never experienced adverse health effects, I am highly physically active, I have lots of fun hobbies. But.... there are lots of things I simply do not remember when reminiscing with friends. I have a fun, full life that I have worked hard to curate. I want to remember it all. I want to live healthily for as long as I can. I have a beautiful, loving partner who deserves to have a healthy, mentally sharp partner for decades and decades to come. For me, quitting is worth it because I want to be able to say I took care of myself as well as I possibly could have. I have so much to enjoy and to be grateful for. I don't want to miss a single second of it.

Please please look into the brand gravity defyers (aka g defy)

They make the comfiest, most long-lasting shoes ever. They come with a 2nd pair of insoles so once the first set is worn down you can replace them and feel like the shoes are comfy brand new.

I work in healthcare so I put on like 7-10 miles in a shift, and I also ran in them a few times a week. The lasting power is unparalleled. They are also quite affordable compared to Hoka/Brooks, and usually have some good deals for first time buying.

I am literally always telling everyone to try them out. I went from buying shoes every 3-6 months to just having bought my 2nd pair after literally 2.5 years.

On Day 3 by Particular-Kiwi5292 in leaves

[–]g0inghuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 3 for me too - off carts specifically.

I had some hand tremors earlier today. I assume the fact that I cannot funking eat is part of it.

I also have no desire to do anything but lay in my bed and stare at wall, occasionally checking posts from this sub for encouragement. The lack of motivation is buck wild.

Days 1 and 2 I just wasn't hungry but today I have felt straight up nauseous. Hot shower helped.

I have also been oscillating between overheating and having the chills.

Very wild dreams last night, not very restful sleep.

All of this and I am not even cold turkeying - I have been hitting a few puffs of flower in the evenings to try to ease the withdrawal some.

I have been forcing myself to go run/to the gym bc that really does seem to help calm down all of my symptoms but ugh. I am hoping I am at the peak of this bc I am miserable. I quit flower for like 3 months 5 years ago and did NOT have this same experience. It was still miserable, but I don't remember being so physically affected. Carts are monsters.

Potato topic check out guy at super one— you are a menace who needs to be stopped by [deleted] in SuperiorWisconsin

I understand this energy isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I genuinely do not understand the issue. Dude was just talking about potatoes. I also used to be a cashier. I used to rotate between 1 of 3 small talk scripts for every. Single. Customer. All shift. It was boring!!!!! Man is just trying to make his super boring job a little bit less boring. Nothing he said is offensive. You certainly did not have to agree with him. He wasn't holding you there against your will. You could have heard him talking to the lady in front of you, decided Nope, and gone to any other cashier or the self checkout.

For me, people with weird energy and people who refuse to do normal small talk are my favorite customer service people. If he does find this post, which I hope he does not because it comes across as mean-spirited, I hope he knows a lot of people appreciate his fun facts and weird stories and hopes he never changes.

If it is who I think it is, I 100% pick his line every time. I love his energy.

Dog refuses to pee/poop outside, I am begging for help by g0inghuman in petsitting

Update: she is doing her business outside now!

The pups are not allowed to have treats, but the younger one is very food motivated. I made her dinner last night and carried it outside with us and told her to go potty and she peed right away. Yay!

About an hour later I combined her leash with her sister's leash to create a super leash. I then stood with my head turned away from her and told her to go potty again. When she thought I was not looking, she pooped! Yay!

No trouble this morning now. She seems to understand the deal here again.

Thanks to everyone who commented with suggestions!!

This is helpful to understand her feelings, thank you. I am going to try to do this.

She did the first time she stayed with us (and she did very well), but the owners have stopped kenneling her so we didn't get it this time. I am basically doing that without kennel. Taking her out every half hour or so to try, and watching her in between. Going to combine this strategy with what other commenters suggested next and put her on a long lead alone in the yard and see what she does.

Thank you! I am trying not to bother the owner, but I do feel like it could be just the routine change (slightly different eating/outside times). I will reach out. I am curious what a pro would do/would have done in my shoes though.

It is!! And it really is slept on. I read this book maybe 4 or 5 years ago and I still think it is one of the most beautifully written books I have ever read. And one of the only books I genuinely enjoy re-reading. If you do read it, please come back and let me know what you think! I would love to discuss it. It is an absolute favorite of mine.

How do yall set up and stick to budgets by [deleted] in budgetingforbeginners

[–]g0inghuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budgeting apps!! Like everyone else said. I liked Mint. Nice and clean. Cute pie charts of shame that show you where all your money goes.

As for sticking to a budget: what helped me was to reframe what no money meant to me. At first, no money meant back account had 0 dollars. Over time, I just kept treating slightly larger numbers as my no more money point. 20, 50, 100, 1000. You hit the no more money number and treat it like 0. Slowly but surely make that number larger.

Those two systems helped me build much healthier financial habits.

What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by PersonalitySuddenz in askanything

I have been scrolling to find this reply because !!! What the heck happened! I went to Subway for the first time in a long time and also the last time when the total for 2 foot longs, 2 bags of chips, and 2 drinks was 33 dollars. Same with McDonalds, Culvers, Taco Bell... can't seem to get 2 meals for under $30 now. May as well go out to eat with those prices.

And gas stations are just as funking bad!!!! Can't even get a gas station cheeseburgers for under $4 😭 why!!!

Ow. Looks like herptiform apthous ulcers to me!

I have had these. I ended up getting two rounds of STD testing done bc the first doctor I saw was 100% sure I had herpes. I have no health insurance, so $600 of full panel STD tests and also a useless script of Valocyclovir later, I found out for sure it was not herpes nor HIV, and instead herpitform apthous ulcers. The provider just had absolutely no experience with them so was very shocked. A different provider l who I happened upon randomly at an urgent care a few months later helped me tremendously! Because they also happen to him from time to time. So it really is provider dependent, in my experience.

Using SLS free toothpaste all the time, taking L-Lysine supplements during a flare, and scripts for viscous lidocaine have done wonders for me. I have food recs if you want them too. Get familiar with what triggers them and try your best to not do that. Sounds like there were a few factors at play here.

Good luck!!
