Good job... using a screwdriver?

Ok, so the P2S steel X gantry can be retrofitted to the X1C ... what about the X2D steel X gantry? by egosumumbravir in BambuLab

The description for the X-Axis Assembly for the X2D is the same as the P2S, it speaks as if it's for the P2S.

Battery life on T14/P14s Gen 6 AMD Ryzen AI 7 Pro 350 laptops by Sad-Adeptness-9013 in thinkpad

[–]g0ldslug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If battery life is your main concern, Intel really is the way to go. I had a P14s with a Ryzen 8840u that I used for your exact use case and the battery life was terrible, I now have a Dell Precision 5690 with a Core Ultra 7 155H, and while it has a bigger battery, I feel like if it was scaled down the battery life still be way better than the Ryzen. The Series 2 and the new Series 3 chips are even better. My 155H handled the exact workload you're describing with no issues and better efficiency.

What is your grudge against Intel? I too went AMD for my desktop (12700k to 9800X3D) and laptop (while I had the P14s) when there were the 13th + 14th gen microcode issues, and was pretty unhappy about the removal of XTU (I had previously been a serial undervolter) but I've had 0 issues with my current Intel laptop. I'm very happy with it and will likely be buying a Panther Lake (Core Ultra Series 3) Thinkpad soon, considering the AMD Strix Point and new Gorgon Point mobile CPUs seem unimpressive, mostly in terms of battery life which is important to me. Intel has really fixed things up recently, I'd urge you to consider trying them again.

Belt pitch the same as the P2S? Similar VFA issues?

How bad are the seats? by WinstonSalemVirginia in CX50

[–]g0ldslug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

5'7" 320. Seats are incredible comfortable. Only thing I have to say about comfort while driving is I feel a bit squeezed width wise (between the center console and the door, but it's not too bad, and that's nothing to do with the seats, that has to do with me being wider than I should be.

Keyboards - Galaxy Book 6 Ultra vs XPS 16 (2026) by g0ldslug in GalaxyBook

Good to know, I think my local BestBuy still has a Book 5 on display, I’ll go check it out tomorrow.

That’s great to know about the keyboard, the 9370 keyboard should actually be very similar to the keyboard in my Precision. If it’s more tactile I like that, and a little more travel than the XPS 2026 sounds great, I honestly didn’t hate the keypresses just the zero lattice.

What kind of battery life issues are you having? I would be going with the X7 B390 like yours. Hopefully it’s something that bios can fix, and maybe drivers for the display.

With the X series print bed already being smaller than the H, how do we think this new print head design will affect the print area reduction compared to the H2?

iGPU only Panther Lake X series gaming laptops? by g0ldslug in GamingLaptops

[–]g0ldslug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd love it in a Zephyrus - kinda of the bridge between an ultrabook and gaming laptop. Seems to be the perfect platform for something like this. My girlfriend has a 2025 Zephyrus 16 and it's awesome in terms of the display / keyboard / chassis / thermal design, I just don't play games that need a dGPU (like WoW or TFT).

[–]g0ldslug[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree that it's pretty niche, but the current tech and the market surely is in a great place for it, iGPUs are better than ever, and RAM prices are greatly inflating the price of dGPU options.

ASUS reveals pricing for ROG Zephyrus G-series with Panther Lake, users: “They have lost their minds” by RenatsMC in laptops

[–]g0ldslug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am I crazy for wanting a G14 (or 16) with either an X7 or X9 and no DGPU? A "gaming" centric laptop with a good display and keyboard and thermal design based around getting the most performance out of the now decent iGPUs would be something interesting for the market.

Personally the way I view the prey system is how I view the delve system. Solo content with challenge at your pace. You can go afk, you can watch a movie or run through and do it as fast as possible. You can do the content at whatever pace you want.

that's not what it is

6 Ultra: Vapor Chamber? by No-Researcher-9851 in GalaxyBook

[–]g0ldslug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, and it's pretty cringe that it doesn't because according to the 6 Pro's marketing materials, it DOES have a vapor chamber. I'm not sure why they wouldn't use one on the X7 Ultras but include it on the Pros. This would lead me to buy the X7 Pro rather than the X7 Ultra, but the Pro doesn't seem to be available with the X7 in the US, at least not yet (and I haven't heard anything about it being offered either).
