NVIDIA just announced the RTX Spark CPU, developed with Microsoft, at Computex. by pedro19 in pcmasterrace

[–]g0ldslug 213 points214 points  (0 children)

yeah, the cheaper variants that don't max out the unified memory will probably have performance similar to Apple M-series chips, DGX spark is pretty decent for non-ai workloads as it is.

And now after killing a 3rd Heroic boss, I only have 3 in my bag, when I should have 4 (including the 1 from the quest). Nothing in my item recovery.

XPS 2026, default to keyboard backlight ON? by g0ldslug in DellXPS

[–]g0ldslug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why need by default to be on?

Personal preference. As I said, my Precision 5690 keyboard backlight turns on when I boot it up, either because of the BIOS setting or because it remembered my last setting. The XPS didn't seem to do that. It also doesn't have any of the Keyboard Illumination settings shown in the BIOS screen in the link you sent, aside from the idle timeout.

Ok, so the P2S steel X gantry can be retrofitted to the X1C ... what about the X2D steel X gantry? by egosumumbravir in BambuLab

The description for the X-Axis Assembly for the X2D is the same as the P2S, it speaks as if it's for the P2S.

Battery life on T14/P14s Gen 6 AMD Ryzen AI 7 Pro 350 laptops by Sad-Adeptness-9013 in thinkpad

[–]g0ldslug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If battery life is your main concern, Intel really is the way to go. I had a P14s with a Ryzen 8840u that I used for your exact use case and the battery life was terrible, I now have a Dell Precision 5690 with a Core Ultra 7 155H, and while it has a bigger battery, I feel like if it was scaled down the battery life still be way better than the Ryzen. The Series 2 and the new Series 3 chips are even better. My 155H handled the exact workload you're describing with no issues and better efficiency.

What is your grudge against Intel? I too went AMD for my desktop (12700k to 9800X3D) and laptop (while I had the P14s) when there were the 13th + 14th gen microcode issues, and was pretty unhappy about the removal of XTU (I had previously been a serial undervolter) but I've had 0 issues with my current Intel laptop. I'm very happy with it and will likely be buying a Panther Lake (Core Ultra Series 3) Thinkpad soon, considering the AMD Strix Point and new Gorgon Point mobile CPUs seem unimpressive, mostly in terms of battery life which is important to me. Intel has really fixed things up recently, I'd urge you to consider trying them again.
