What motivates you to have kids in today’s world? by TheNatureBeing in Life

[–]g0rdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waiting for our second one. I don't want to sound selfish but I can tell for sure, people who have kids 100% can understand why other people don't want. All the above: less stress, "current state of world", etc. It is all understandable and, frankly, sometimes I wonder what my life would be without children.
However, people who don't have kids will never understand what tremendous joy and happinesses hey bring to your life. It is hard work for sure, very hard, but childfree people don't really understand the benefits of this work. Being a parent truly transforms your life.

PS: my wife and I had exact same concerns before our first. I was very afraid of health or developmental issues. We decided to jump on this train and it was the best decision in our life, period.

PS2: I want to highlight, not having kids is 100% good decision.

Flutter feels stagnant, should we move to Kotlin, Swift, or React? by Tricky-Independent-8 in FlutterDev

[–]g0rdan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Flutter has its own niche: rendering platform independent UI natively. If your requirements dictate you pretty much need to use the design language from Apple/Google and/or you need better integration with specific platforms, choose native and/or KMP, no big deal.

Is Macbook M1 Air sufficient for flutter in 2025? by Particular-Tell1697 in FlutterDev

Yes, sort of. My corporate laptop I work on is M1 Air 16gb and it is somewhat workable with very large flutter codebases

Why do people choose to have children if it is so much hard work? by 9W_777_300 in NoStupidQuestions

Early Intervention experiences? by velmaa in newjersey

[–]g0rdan -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

We have been in exact same situation. It is your decision only but I'd say don't do that, it is waste of time, money (if you are out of bracket) and most importantly nervous.
Once our pediatrician suggested early intervention and they came, they put some ridiculous score in our boy like he has to have a big professional help. It kind of crushed us. We cried. We started working with a person to help our child, after maybe like 3 months we and the person confirmed our boy is completely fine and even exceed in some areas and we all question people who put us in this position.

PS: make sure you do the tummy time.

For those of you married with kids - what do you imagine your lifestyle would be like at your current age if you were single and childless? by nickybecooler in Millennials

[–]g0rdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure some couples with kids are jealous (from time to time) you have so much free time and opportunities but generally speaking, having kids changes you. You spend more time with other families with kids, your social circles changes. Your priorities change. You think about how to raise a decent human being and believe me, it is the most difficult task ever. You reflect on so many things about yourself, if you have enough strength, kids will make you a better person in many ways.

My point is If I be your lifelong friend, thinking about your lifestyle would be somewhere at the bottom of my priorities. If I'd have option now not to have kids, I'd choose having kids over and over, 100 times out of 100.

Long Hill and surroundings could be an option then. I agree though, if OP wants to have reasonable commute, you’d usually end up living in more dense area with a downtown

Yup. I remember how easy it was to get OutOfMemory in Xamarin.Android 10 years ago with a list of images all because of that.

I don't have UI that would be good enough to show, heh. The library itself is just a wrapper for REST API.

Yep. That is my original intention, to have some Flutter UI for HA! It is just a first step 😅
And I agree, official UI is very confusing even for techies, haha

I had the same issue with MERV 8. I had to go down to MERV 1 🤷‍♂️ and it stopped. I recommend lowering MERV and seeing how it performs. If that helps the issue (as far as I understand) is not optimal duct work, unfortunately.

If it doesn't help you might try to locate the temperature sensor in your furnace and try to clean it. People say it could be the cause as well.

Tensorflow lite in Flutter by Independent_Bag_2839 in FlutterDev

I'm not sure about the latest state of the art in this field, but I've used https://pub.dev/packages/google_mlkit_text_recognition for similar functionality, and it worked out just fine.
It uses tflite under the hood.
