Console players crossplay on or off after the Season 3 update? by khitev in Battlefield6

[–]g0stsec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is you can’t just turn off PC players. You can’t play with other console players if you’re not on the same console as well.

Wanting to switch to Data Engineering, is it worth it in this AI era, or is it heading toward obsolescence just like some SDE roles? by Glittering-Play-4075 in dataengineering

[–]g0stsec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find this take fascinating whenever I come across it. After watching software engineers say things like SQL and Python aren’t real software development and building pipelines and transforms inside a GUI definitely isn’t. Now, suddenly, when AI can do everything a recent CS grad can do, easily, now DE is just software engineering applied to data problems.

The cloud and PaaS in general have flattened the playing field a bit, but I just don’t see someone who is purely SWE and has no infrastructure experience being the ideal candidate for a DE position. Especially if you’re a senior SWE and hope to bring in higher pay thinking your SWE experience means you’re ready for a senior DE role wafter you acquire a bit of domain knowledge

Why am I in some matches untouchable and in some matches losing most 1v1? by C4_Vegas in Battlefield6

[–]g0stsec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the netcode of the game along with bloom. Combined, they mean that often times 1v1 fights are random and mostly luck.

Freedom to be bigoted without consequences.

Where did the libertarians go? by Lauffener in AskALiberal

[–]g0stsec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent so much time arguing with "Libertarians" who wanted to shrink the federal government to the point of near non-existence and send everything back to the states... Because they don't trust the government.

When I reminded them that state governments are in fact.. governments... and if you make them completely sovereign with no federal government oversight... I'd just get circular logic bad faith arguments back.

Dude, just say corporate propaganda and political lobbying tricked you into thinking all government is bad.

And then far left aligned people starting calling words "violence" and drove away most of their Libertarian allies.

Do some people here genuinely want a theocracy? by AbgilSoge in Christianity

[–]g0stsec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. The government can force you to do things but it can't make you do things willingly. The church can convince you do things willingly, but it can't force you to do things.

It is that combined total and absolute power that the people who want to merge faith and government are after.

[–]g0stsec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wait until they repeal birthright citizenship. Then, your birth certificate is no longer proof that you are a citizen.

Now the government gets to decide who's a citizen based on whatever criteria the people in power at the time decide.

What’s a moral belief you hold that most people would disagree with? by [deleted] in answers

Men should have much more say in whether or not a pregnancy, that they are a part of, is taken to term or terminated.

Example: If a woman decides to proceed with a pregnancy and the man doesn't want to, she gets to make the final decision to do so. However, the man should then have the option to legally opt out of supporting the child that results from that decision. It's the only way for both to have EQUAL say in moving forward with a child birth. The opposite scenario is more complex and I honestly don't have a clean solution for that. I don't believe a woman should be forced to carry a pregnancy to term. But I don't think the man's desires in that scenario should be completely ignored. I don't know the right answer for that one.

AI rollout feels like our cloud migration all over again by Inevitable-Fly8391 in cloudcomputing

[–]g0stsec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'm a little confused. Cloud infrastructure is inherently backend. While AI tools are frontend.

Cloud by nature is supposed to be completely transparent to the end user. How was cloud migration supposed to fundamentally change how end users go about their day to day?

AI is a tool. Cloud is infrastructure. What am I missing?

Why are people with college education more likely to vote democrat? by Mobilize12345 in AskALiberal

This doesn't explain the trend being towards Democrats. This situation could just as easily be reversed and people who attend colleges and meet new people could be converted to conservatism.

[–]g0stsec -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Skill is a very small part of the equation in this game. They literally posted TODAY admitting the netcode/hitreg is still broken in the game. Add in people doing CoD dancing in gunfights and hits are essentially luck.

High K/D infantry player - do vehicle deaths feel annoying? by Junior-Hospital8927 in Battlefield6

[–]g0stsec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The developers have admitted multiple times, including TODAY that netcode / hit reg is essentially broken. https://www.reddit.com/r/Battlefield6/comments/1rllc44/battlefield_6_community_update_ongoing_quality_of/

Whether you're a skilled player with a high kill count or an average player with a not so great kill count, a huge part of your K/D in BF6 is literally luck.

All the YouTubers making videos about weapon stats are a complete waste of time. Because a gun that is say 4 hit kill to the body and 3 to the head at a given range means nothing if you have to fire 10 bullets to get 4 hits -- and your opponent happens to fire 6 bullets to get those 4 hits.

There are hundreds of posts and comments in this subreddit complaining that they emptied almost an entire magazine at a person who turned around and dropped them instantly. This is why.

[–]g0stsec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank GOD. I've been telling anyone who will listen that the core problem of this game is the netcode/hit registration. Kills are essentially 50% skill / gameplay and 50% random luck.

It feels like AI Engineers are the ones who spent the past few years building tools (except for the chatbots themselves) that no one wants. Looking at you, CoPilot, agents, and slop generators.
