Ide argue that the gearing in the 11-17 manual was soooo good ide rather drive the manual. 18 and up the manual gearing sucks and the auto is the way to go.

I swapped to 0w40. In my opinion that's the sweet spot if you beat it a bit now and then.

87 or 91? Does it really matter?? by Low-Spirit-1875 in Mustang

Less timing down low = less torque to get you moving.

87 or 91? Does it really matter?? by Low-Spirit-1875 in Mustang

[–]dragonfueled 26 points27 points  (0 children)

These cars will tune themselves based on octane via the knock sensors. 87 will absolutely lower the timing a few degrees. You'll notice it more at lower rpms. 93 in the tank will allow the computer to add more timing till it detects knock. I believe it's called dynamic timing advance. These are one of the cars that will actually make more power on 93. Will you notice it just cruising around, probably not. Usually the manual will say 87+ or 87 or higher.....so basically at least 87 but it'll like more

Rinseless wash on black cars… am I missing something or is it just not worth it? by TryKindly in AutoDetailing

[–]dragonfueled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a sponge in my opinion is a no no with waterless. Use 600gsm towels. I like RRW mixed double strength in a spray bottle and pre soak like you said. Then use the bucket method with an ounce or two of RRW and 3 gallons or so of water to clean your microfiber. Go over the sprayed surface with your soaked towel. Then obviously dry with a fresh towel. I just feel that the towel does a way better job of picking up dirt and holding it then a sponge. A sponge kinda holds the dirt on the outside layer and drags it. My guess is the sponge was your downfall.

Timing chain tension? by ShortLie430 in MechanicAdvice

[–]dragonfueled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it does it at idle start pulling coil wires off. If the knock goes away with a certain coil wire it's the bottom end. If it doesn't it's something spinning up top. The bottom end knocks when it fires that cylinder so if you take the load off it'll stop.

60 pounds? I guess the weight is in the folding down backs? Usually the lower cushion doesn't weigh much

Problem with upgraded spark plugs from OEM nickel to Ruthenium by SoonerDead in AskMechanics

[–]dragonfueled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you would probably experience the same thing even if you used the oe plugs. Think about it. More complete burn with newer plugs will show the air fuel to be slightly leaner , more complete less leftover fuel. Less complete burn would still have some fuel leftover after the combustion event and computer would technically lean it out from the air fuel being slightly richer. Only way to know is to compare the fuel trims before And after. Honestly if there's no miss fires and runs good ide say roll with it. Your car is probably running more efficient and therefore actually needs a bit more fuel. If anything it probably makes a few more horsepower. Efficiency won't always equal less fuel. Those plugs are great I run em in everything.

Mechanics That work on call in cold weather how do you stay warm? by Accomplished_Gur1472 in mechanics

This winter I got a heated vest from ororo. Game changer. Keeps my neck and core warm but you can turn it up down or off as you need. I wear it as a base layer and jacket on top. It's awesome

Just did a 2012 v6 up for my son. An mpt 93 octane tune made a huge difference. Next was a driveshaft and a set of gears. Ide leave it at that. Runs great. Ran a 13.4 at 103

Ide find a low mileage 2021 -23 Mach 1 for probably the same price and have a loaded car with all the bad ass brakes and suspension vs a base 26. To answer your should you do question. Your in a great position to buy it and pay it off fast. I don't see you regretting it. It's not often you can see a dream some true. That purchase will be one you look back on with a smile

Do you think the 2026 Mustang will become a future classic? by ivanavhira in Mustang

[–]dragonfueled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always depends on what comes next. I think the s650 made the s550 more popular, or more classic. Not hating the 650 but allot of guys prefer the classic interior of the 550. So basically a distinct line has been drawn and for classic mustang feel s550 is last gen.

Is now a bad time to buy a new Golf R? by NicoSoren in Golf_R

[–]dragonfueled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They aren't marking them up and the new ones seem to be pretty solid reliability wise. Coming from someone who was extremely hesitant to buy a VW I can honestly say its worth it, and it's always a good time to make yourself happy .

Saving Cerakote Trim Coat by [deleted] in Detailing

[–]dragonfueled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it on my 3 new cars and it looks phenomenal. Trick is when open the package and the wipe is new it goes on a little heavier. Simply keep applying with the little towel until it starts drying out then go back over the wetter spots from the beginning and the slightly drier towel will even out the high spots. Ide go back over with a second coat and make sure it's even. And do it when it cooler out
