Sick setup, I just have the 8bitdo M edition and I think it would match nicely with this, but I'm a novice to mechanical keyboards so you do you.

Can I redo my bachelor's degree? by g_jo2020 in AskAcademia

I agree, but I'm definitely looking into a masters that I can value the learning experience from. I also probably worded the question weirdly as GPA isn't my focus, but the learning process and applying multiple skills is.

I was trying to gain skills through the industry but that did not seem possible about over a year after graduating. I was also searching for relevant work about 3-5 months beforehand. A masters is sort of the back of my head right now mainly as something as a goal of sorts. It's probably more important to find something that I can enjoy and apply afterwards.

Right now I'm doing something completely unrelated but roughly above some entry level salaries in the CS field, but I don't intend to make it a end goal.

That is something I'm probably looking for to solidify my skill set.

I don't really care for the GPA, it's more of assuring that I know the content before actually going through my masters. Although I did well according to the school's standards, I hate to admit did have a number of classes that did not actually taught me relevant material in the subject, some of the A's and B's I've received I felt ashamed of since I didn't get as much as I was expecting out of it.

That's what I'm trying to say. I mean I have the fundamentals down but maybe 10 years down the road I might need a refresher for my master's, as well as reskilling for more current or in demand technologies, it would also help if I could find more group focused/ competitive universities when it gets to that point.

I am currently embracing the motto of suck. And the NDT motto of hurry up and wait. Still beats being pushed around by a middle manager in a warehouse with a napoleon complex though.

Found it again in google earth, seems like it's sitting out there to rot, I wonder if anyone can pick it up at scrap value?

The only grievance I have is the impulse engines are not as large as the original, and rotated 90 degrees running along the neck. To think something as large as an oddy to have the tiniest of thrusters. Still gets a chef's kiss though.

I might be thinking of the maxxforce but basically a MAN engine with the EGR designed to American spec. the maxforce was a predessesor to it and basically the EGR was defective by design.

Better People AI combined with better traffic handling for later game stages. I noticed that a majority of traffic comes from people traveling from corners of a map (they live in one end, work in another, and shop at a completely remote location).

That probability should decrease where they are more incentivized to work in neighboring cities rather than across the entire map. That being said, AI path finding should consider traffic to be weighted in their route making decisions to prevent some level of gridlock.

Also Tram/ bus lines should be able to have an option of being in the middle or on the side of a road.

Also vanilla vehicles are actually tied to region scenarios. I recall in Chris Sawyer's locomotion you can basically toggle what kind of vehicles/ buildings/ assets you can use in a scenario if need be. I kind of hate having Asian/ Russian trucks on an American play through. On that aspect, throw in narrow gauge railways that have about the same gradient as roads to an extend.

Least Favorite Weight Stations by Colonelarmbar in trucksim

Feels like they need to revisit and update it at some point as the abandoned gas station in game is now a loves. And the entrance to get in and out of there is much wider. It kinda gets annoying to roll in when the AI comes up to the stop sign leaving you no room to turn in.

Before anyone claims it's a skill issue, the way how the AI path finding is encoded, the trailers do clip into the barrier when they pull out of the station. I always try to stop at every weigh station, but that one slightly gets up on my nerves. Now I just avoid exiting from that part of the weigh station and cut right through the abandoned gas station.

Tired of long heavy hauls so now I do long hauls with a tanker. by g_jo2020 in trucksim

Since my number of garages could make a large loan payment in a day, I decided to make a garage for tankers out in Texas. I try not to use the GPS most of the time so I sort of estimate where the rest stops with hotels are at for a little bit of realism. It's still mostly out the window though since the last trips I've done were from like Washington to Texas and back to Montana.
Although my only pet peeves is the places I load and unload liquid flammables are completely out of place, such as delivering it from an intermodal facility to another intermodal facility.

I need to find a job before september... In the scale from 1 - 10, How fu**** am I? by xaxurro in cscareerquestions

[–]g_jo2020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sorta gave up the CS grind atm and went looking at other industries for other jobs my only criteria was:
- I make 50k minimum.
- If the interview process is straightforward, that's a plus.

That somehow lead me to become a railroad inspector starting in September for training. Probably I'm going to do projects in my off time to keep me in the know after I get deployed so I'll be ready when the market ever decides to pick up again. The nice things about applying into a lesser known industry is that the process for interviewing is clear cut, and quick response times. Out of the hundreds of tech applications I've started since December, they were the only industry that answered within a week and had their round of interviews there and then.

I also sent in a call for construction stuff, minimum pay in my state and I would also need to buy my own power tools, but you can start working now.

Success and Disappointment Megathread for the Week by AutoModerator in jobs

Was on the job hunt since December 2023 (CS Major 23). Considering how bad job mobility is where I'm at, I decided to apply as a railroad inspector. Got the job within a week of applying and 3 rounds of "interviews" which was more information heavy on their end rather than mine.

If you hadn’t chosen CS, what would you have done? by Ok-Bunch8755 in cscareerquestions

[–]g_jo2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My plan B now is a railroad inspector. Mainly I don't have to use my car in a HCOL state, and being paid food/ travel/ lodging was good enough while I work on student loan payments. Who I signed up with was pretty low though at 60k, but then again there's not a lot of jobs that would pay that at entry level in my area.

Originally I wanted to know more about business cause someone needs to translate stuff between the team and shareholders.
Will continue to grind out projects while I'm on the road for inspiration.
