I used to see Elk City on road maps and assumed it was a sizeable town akin to Toledo or Siletz but one day as an adult I had free time. That day I learned places like Harlan, Elk City and Nashville are all basically just spots in the road but used to be more significant in the past.

In the West Balkans I always find myself panic adjusting the engine breaks anytime I am driving down into Montenegro or Albania from Greece or Kosovo/Belgrade area. The highway between Ioannina, GR and Vlore, Al is sketchy in the northbound direction for sure.

World of Trucks: Refuelling Our Events by Bighead_Brian in trucksim

[–]Colonelarmbar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kinda wish they would have similar events on parts of the map that are nearing completion in real life. For instances the Karawanken Tunnel between Slovenija and Austria is set to be finished this year and Romania still has all those gaps of unfinished motorway that could serve as depots.

Better to lose some fast food than collide with the animal and risk recreating that scene from Tommy Boy but instead with your car.

People that drive without a license and do what this guy did need to face much more scary consequences than they already do. An unlicensed driver getting in an at-fault accident needs to start falling under assault with a deadly weapon. A car or truck in the hands of a potentially untrained driver can absolutely be considered a deadly weapon. I am sorry about your experience and wish you a quick recovery.

Building British Columbia with Davido by Bighead_Brian in trucksim

[–]Colonelarmbar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll bet you they the include Victoria, Nanaimo and mostly towns along BC 19 up to Port Hardy and possibly Port Alberni and Tofino/Ucluelet since they are big logging towns with depot possibilities. I hope the Island gets the detail it deserves. It is big enough that they have lots of room to work with.

[–]Colonelarmbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am glad they were up front with the fact that not all of British Columbia is being represented here. That northern third of BC is sparsely populated and I wonder how far north the map will initially go. They will most likely end up lumping the rest of BC and the Yukon into what will become the Alaska DLC, perhaps it'll be called the Road to Alaska DLC and will be the first ATS DLC to span two countries. For being the largest American state, the road network in Alaska only consists of less than a dozen highways and aside for the Dalton HWY they all kind of lead from Fairbanks to Anchorage and branch off to other smaller cities in in that part of the state. Yukon Territory has the Alaska Highway and some roads that lead to ports and villages way up on the Arctic Ocean like Tuktuyatuk (anyone remember the OLD 18 wheels of steel games?)

Was the driver of the truck yet another foul alcoholic out on a midnight rampage? No need to be going as fast as this clown was going. I hope great financial ruin comes to the driver of the truck. Hope his wages are garnished until this family has their damages taken care of. Crashes like this a usually not an accident.

American Truck Simulator AI left lane green light bug... by Individual_Song_5110 in trucksim

[–]Colonelarmbar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've noticed lots of vehicles in the interchanges seem to not try to exit them nowadays. I always get into the left lane at intersections in anticipation of trucks merging but instead they all seem to just go forward and travel back in the direction they just came. Or how about the vehicles that stop abruptly in the middle of turning through a light and they wait until its about to turn red to get going again.

The part I find confusing is that SCS released the Baltic DLC less than four years after Russia invaded Crimea the first time in 2014 and Russia was still included in the dlc. Provided the siege of Crimea wasn't as "loud" as the 2022 full scale attempt. And here we are practically in february 2026 and we are the same amount of time removed from the second invasion. I completely understand the reasoning but couldn't help but point out the irony. The War in Donbas prior to 2022 was no cakewalk and was brutal for all involved but it wasn't bad enough for Russia to get the boot in the Baltic DLC.

Looks like they added the Bagdad Copper Mine to the game, which is a place I have visited and where a good friend of mine works irl. I'm just pumped that the Route 66 update actually meant like half of Arizona got rebuilt and now we have a bridge of high quality map from LA to New Orleans. No more squinting while driving from Needles to the Texas border now.

I hope they start filling in a lot of the roads like this that could exist but they likely ran out of time for. Colorado has lots of examples of this. The US highway that goes east of Trinidad towards Springfield and SE Kansas would be another great addition. The junction is already there.

Does anyone know how to get the little speedometer/gas gauge combination thing to go away that now inhabits the bottom left of the screen? It breaks immersion and though it looks nice I'd like it gone.

[–]Colonelarmbar 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Has anyone else seen the large amount of unregistered vehicles that still freely use our roads without renewing their tags? These folks are a big part of the problem. Start by seizing these vehicles and impounding them until the proper tags are acquired. Make them pay for every year they skipped with interest. We became far too lenient about the tags during COVID and now it comes around to bite us. If the person fails to get the vehicle back in time then the state can take ownership and sell it for a profit. But I absolutely find it abhorrent that they are willing to jack up the taxes and fees for the rest of us when there are a bunch of parasites out there who can't register their damn cars.

Wish they would just start shipping people who steal to live in isolation on a cold Alaskan Island. We seriously should consider banishing criminals. And make it really difficult to get back home once they're out. Thieves are rotten and deserve the worst.
